Soul Firewall

(a/n: I have decided to name our protagonist Magnus since I realized I hadn't decided on a name yet.)

Days turned into weeks as Magnus delved deeper into David's memories, seeking answers to the enigmatic orbs and the events that had unfolded. With each memory explored, fragments of truth emerged, painting a picture that grew more complex with each revelation.

Finally catching up with all of David's memories, Magnus felt a sense of disorientation and uncertainty. The memories had left him with questions that demanded answers. What were these orbs? What had truly been transpiring within David's mind?

Lost amidst the chaos of thoughts, Magnus's attention was drawn to the recesses of the subconscious—a realm of untapped knowledge that beckoned like a beacon of understanding. Intrigued and hopeful, Magnus made their way towards the subconscious, guided by an instinctual pull.

As Magnus touched the gray orb that represented the subconscious, a familiar warmth enveloped their being, as if reuniting with an old friend. Sensations sharpened, and the world around them appeared in vivid clarity. Finally, they had gained true control over David's body and the ability to explore the depths of his consciousness.

With newfound clarity, Magnus delved deeper into the recesses of the subconscious, seeking answers to their burning questions. There, they discovered the programmed red orb—the very same orb that had been relentlessly attacking David. Magnus dubbed it the "Protector Orb" due to its defensive nature after being reprogramed.

the Protector Orb was replicating itself, tirelessly searching for more of its kind. It seemed to have taken on the role of defending David's mind against the invading red orbs, assimilating and reprogramming them to aid in its mission.

Seeing the potential in this unique defense mechanism, Magnus formulated a plan. They decided to assimilate all the copies of the Protector Orb into a unified "soul firewall," a formidable defense system that would shield David's mind from future invasions.

Seated comfortably, Magnus initiated the reprogramming process, meticulously merging the copies and integrating additional defense systems into the Protector Orb. With each adjustment, they could feel the power of the orb growing, its energy expanding and transforming.

After what seemed like an eternity, Magnus wiped away a metaphorical bead of sweat, satisfied with the completed modifications. The Protector Orb, now enhanced and fully under their control, had become an impenetrable fortress within the mindscape—the realm they had come to call their own.

Stepping out of the mindscape, Magnus was jolted back to reality as they witnessed David's body being abruptly awakened by a guard.

"Get up! The doctor wants to see you," the guard barked, urging David to rise from his slumber.
