"Selene, can you stop whining like a baby? I wouldn't have believed it if someone told me that one day, I had to witness a Selene like this." He chuckled, sipping down the brown liquid.
"I even myself wouldn't have believed there would be a day where I had to see the great Lucifer being head over heels for mere human creatures."
"Come on, they are not that bad. They possess a brain and an opinion of themselves unlike us. I think that itself defines how great they are." He showed her a pressed smile that was wrapped in sarcasm.
"Well, that is supposed to be fun for us but you are not allowing me to enjoy it now." She complained, a small frown forming and he knew exactly what that means.
"No, we are not hurting anyone for pleasure. That is not what we are here for."
"Then what are we here for? Like to roam around and serve humans like you do? Or do bar assistant work in this cow shed?" Selene was getting no proper from his side and it sounded so absurd.
"Selene, are you not forgetting that we were angels before this? Just because that old man banished us, doesn't mean we have to prove his words right?"
"Lucifer, you are just becoming soft here. In hell, all you were focused on was making the sinned souls suffer and declaring war against heaven. Forgetting all the words you imprinted on demons like us?" She questioned, snatching the glass from the man.
"That is hell! I rule hell and I still agree to the fact that I absolutely despise heaven and the creatures there. Every chance I get, I am making them suffer as much as I do."
"I hope so." She shrugged before walking over to the couch and kicking down the blanket.
"Hey, what was that for?" He asked, controlling his burp before tossing himself off the high chair from the bar counter.
"If I kick you down, it wouldn't end until one of us dies, and considering your sweet aura on Earth, I am certain the hell would lose the ruler." She snickered making him roll his eyes back.
Only if she could tell how much he matters to her and the feelings that he lingers in her. She knew that she is a mere demon who should never get involved with the Devil directly and yet here she is beyond her expectation. She was not one of his regular demon minions because she descended from heaven along with him. She was a friend to him but for her things were beyond that. She tried her best to dig those feelings in a grave but he made it impossible, he was very charming despite being ignorant.
She had tried to make him realize it but it never really did the job. Either it was him acting like a fool or her efforts were not loud enough to reach his ears. Bella, she had known about this since the start and warned Selene to maintain her distance from Lucifer but that only ended in a fight as her brain wanted to believe she was as equally needed for him. Until one day, he disappeared without telling her and came back after thousands of years. The time zone in Hell, Heaven, and Earth are different as God decided that would only make sense.
"This weekend we have a few works and I expect you to be ready." He spoke all of a sudden catching her off guard.
"I am always ready whatever the work is but I expect it wouldn't be anything silly. I am not babysitting anyone anymore."
"There would be a carnival going on by the church in the town square and we have to be there." He corrected her misconception.
"Really? Are we finally going to have some fun?" She asked excitedly, her eyes flaunting a shade of orange.
"Definitely no knives and ninja blades."
"Is it a gun?" She asked scooting closer to him as the excitement increased.
"No."
"Bomb? Explosives? Swords? Arrow?" She asked further.
"Not anything of that sort, geez!"
"Oh, my Hell! Is it an electric shock? Demon powers? That is fun, I agree."
"Selene, we are not going there to choose violence." He groaned, staring at her unbelievably.
"Then what are we gonna do? Ride a carousel and eat cotton candy?"
"That is there in the list too but no. I will explain when it is time. Now, I bet you require some sleep. You have worked hard today and even chose to fight me. So go back and sleep." He said waving his hands at her.
"You are hopeless, Lucifer. I mean where should I go? Back to hell?"
"Ahh, I have something for you. I just forgot it, blame the alcohol." He giggled playfully before fetching a bundle of keys from his pocket.
"What is this?"
"The keys for your room, your bike and car, everything you need." He mumbled placing it in front of her on the table.
"What do you mean by that? We are staying different?" She asked bewildered because that is never gonna happen.
"Of course, or else what? Do you want to stay here with me? I mean, Naomi visits me and I will have other girls to entertain too. That would be very uncomfortable."
"It won't be for me." She stated almost immediately as her heart clenched at the feeling.
"No no, you are misunderstanding. I meant about me, it had be uncomfortable for me and the girls." He corrected.
"Lucifer, can I ask you something?"
"Sure." He dragged himself to the bar counter, taking a packet of his favorite smoke sticks.
"Who am I to you?"Her eyes were holding back a river of tears and her lips trembling as she expected him to give a proper thought before speaking.
"My best support system, the person who had always been my help and someone I can trust with all works." He answered instantly.
"T-thank you."
