Demon of Lust (5): Chalice

Celine considered the option scrupulously, but sadly, her mischievous thoughts got away from what was better for her. Indeed, summoning a Devil was riskier, with no reward equaling it. After all, she read a book once about a devil, a higher being, a loathed existence of the human race, and even from all races, including the demon race!

Summoning a Devil and enslaving it perhaps offered you protection and power… against for? Was it really worth it since a summoner would be considered a Devil, and all living existence would not hesitate to band together and deal with you and the Devil?

It wasn't really worth it.

But for Celine, she felt… leaving her castle once, even if it would only reduce her lifespan to 1 to 3 years, was worth it.

Experiencing freedom and living a carefree life like any other was something she desired rather than being cooped up inside the castle for who knows how many decades. In the end, she has to end up with someone she didn't know really well for political marriage and ends up being a housewife.

Nothing really changed, and she had to live inside the castle eternally.

Of course, there would be like overseeing her future son and daughter and watching them grow, and then…

No, she didn't want it!

She wants to have freedom and explore the vast world and the mysteries that haven't been uncovered yet from what was recorded in her mind. Too many books, too much content, but what she couldn't forget was the mysterious things from other places in the world.

For instance: the Abyss that divided the world in half; stated that the other side was completely different, especially the number and color of the moon. While the other side was inhabited by the human race, high elves, and dwarves with seven moons, it was said the other was inhabited solely by the demon race and even the rumored dark elves.

The dragon race and beast race: the former could only be spotted in the Abyss while the beast race lived in the other continent, but they couldn't escape from the Human race grasped, and therefore, under the vassal of the human race. Of course, only to those beasts, who have intelligence, while those who don't become the training dummy and targets of the Adventurer's guild.

Celine must be insane to even think of exploring the other side of the Abyss where the demon race resided, but she was clear-headed, and the desire to journey to that place exploded from the thought of summoning the Devil.

"Who cares if the world turns its back on me once I summoned a Devil and enslaved them? Who really cares, like I have time to care about what others think." Celine stood up and beamed a bright smile. "As long as I'm happy and live my life to the fullest, nothing matters.

It always has been other people that decide for me, but now… I want to decide for myself, even if those people who care for me a lot don't have a choice but to look for me…" Celine's face formed a bitter smile. "And kill me."

After she muttered those words, silence returned in the library supposed to bring tranquility, while she was consumed by deep contemplation. She stared at the ceiling, helping her to ponder thoroughly.

In the end, she had to consider her decision because she was aware of letting her emotions overflow, and concluding without thinking it through would perhaps lead to a regrettable decision.

Honestly, she didn't care about regretting it, but more like she didn't want to act similar to a naive woman who couldn't support her ruthless decision.

"I decided."

Those two words resulted in clarity and the disappearance of a heavy weight in her emotions. Now, she was positive that no matter what the result of her decision was, she wouldn't regret it.

Taking the book in her hand, she clasped it, and the flame suddenly emerged from her open palm, engulfing the book and reducing it easily to ashes. She had already totally memorized the contents, so she had no use for it unless she didn't want her father to find out about her plans.

She had to make ample preparations, so she needed time, and in that span of time might be enough for her father to find out. Even her personal maid shouldn't know about it. Therefore she had already decided what approach she should take.

But the problem was…

"Where would I find blood from a being in a heavenly realm?"

Celine felt a headache coming, knowing even her father hadn't touched that realm yet, so she didn't know where to find blood from such a higher realm.

Her Father is an Archduke and on the same level as the Emperor, which means there might be no humans who have touched the heavenly realm yet. That is, to speak about those who were alive and managing the affairs of the peaceful times, for one thing, Celine knows. To fight the aging of time, those heavenly realm beings froze their body to prepare against the calamity or even a cataclysmic event.

"I remember now why my Father and the Emperor have friendly relations, and their status is almost equal because of their ancestors. This is also the reason the Emperor managed to retain his position despite some other forces having similar powers to him."

Celine was about to be discouraged, knowing she couldn't disturb her ancestor from slumber just to ask for blood, when she recalled something, making her star-like iris sparkle.

"The Chalice of Blood… That's right, the chalice that contained the blood of my ancestor to aid my Father in reaching the heavenly realm. With his blood, it will be a great boon for my father's success in breaking through."

Instead of getting happy about her father's soon reaching the heavenly realm, she was actually thinking of stealing it just to summon a Devil. Really, if only her Father was aware of how insane she became, he would not only scold her but ground and teach her a lesson to forget doing something only a crazy person would.

But he wasn't present, so she couldn't stop her daughter from forming a smile on her face, seemingly concluding her decision, even if it affected her father's fate considerably.

"Hmm…" Celine mumbled with her eyes rolling upward, recalling the location of the chalice of blood.

If she wasn't wrong, her father accidentally spilled the information of its whereabouts, surprisingly hidden in his room, and was placed in a solitary place.

His Father didn't worry about someone finding the chalice of blood, for only he, the Emperor, and his daughter were aware of it. If it wasn't for his daughter being a talkative type while he was patient in answering his daughter's questions, he wouldn't have spilled it.

"The chalice, if I'm not wrong, that object could even stop time to prevent the contents from aging. Perhaps, it is useless for a liquid or beverage that needs fermenting, but it is perfect for blood to prevent it from drying."
