Unhinged Power

Two days had passed since the incident in class and finally, a victorious smile spread across my face. I had achieved something that felt impossible at first - controlling the flow of mana properly and forming it into a sphere-like shape. As I celebrated this personal triumph, a sudden knock on the door interrupted my moment of glory.

"Yo." Leo greeted me with a smile. I was surprised to see Leo standing outside my house, wondering why he showed up unannounced.

"I told everyone to meet up and show off what we've learned in the past 2 days. I'm sure we all have stuff to learn from each other," he explained.

With a spark of excitement, I joined Leo for a walk to the local park where we were supposed to meet up with everyone. I couldn't wait to show off my newly acquired skills.

"Hey guys."

"So what have you learned during the break?" Rayne inquired curiously.

"I learned how to control the flow of mana going out of my body properly!" I exclaimed, holding a sphere of mana in my hand.

As I proudly showed off my newly acquired skills, my friends looked at me with a mix of intensity and confusion. Their lack of progress was starting to worry me.

"So, did anyone of you guys learn how to do this?" I asked.

"I can't even draw mana from my body yet," replied one of my friends.

I was shocked. How had none of them even been able to draw mana from their body yet? Was I the only fast learner in the group, or was something wrong with my friends?

"Myra learned how to do it," Enzo said, breaking the silence.

Myra closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and drew the mana out of her body, forming a sphere. It wasn't perfect, but it was good enough to be considered a sphere. It seems like my group of friends was a bunch of slow learners.

"I've come to the conclusion that everyone here is an idiot," I said, shaking my head. "No objections because you guys can't even form a simple sphere."

"Maybe you could teach us... after all, you are the one who can form a perfect sphere," Leo suggested.

"The thing is, this is something that cannot be taught," I replied, feeling frustrated. "It's either you can do it or you can't do it. Ms. Smith already gave all the guidance that she could. All that is left is for you guys to practice hard in order to master this basic skill."

"Alright, I guess we can call it for a day then," Myra replied, dismissing our class.

As everyone hit their separate paths, I couldn't help but feel worried for my friends. I hoped that I was just a fast learner and that they weren't a bunch of dense-brained fools.

The next day, Ms. Smith asked if anyone had become somewhat proficient in controlling the flow of mana and was willing to show us. Without hesitation, I raised my hand and volunteered.

But Ms. Smith didn't seem to trust me after my previous failed attempt. "I don't trust you... last time you attempted this you tried to blow up the school," she reminded me.

I assured her that I had improved and could form a perfect sphere of mana right in the palm of my hand. With her approval, I went up to the front of the class with pure confidence in my ability. I directed the flow of my mana towards my hand, not too fast, not too slow, and in the end, I formed a perfect sphere with no problems whatsoever.

Ms. Smith was shocked. "Wow... that's shocking, I didn't expect anybody to raise their hand as nobody would've been able to do it this well in only 2 days. You've already mastered the flow of mana," she said.

I felt flattered and gave her a warm smile before sitting back down. Maybe I was just a fast learner after all.

Ms. Smith then asked if anyone else had learned to control their mana as well as I did. I turned to my left and saw Zion with a malicious grin on his face, raising his hand.

Zion wanted to make it a competition. "I believe my ability of mana control exceeds his ability," he boasted.

Zion got out of his chair and formed a sphere with what seemed like even less effort than what I had put into creating a perfect sphere.

"Now, what would happen if I threw this ball of mana at someone else?" Zion asked, smiling.

"That would be very dangerous," Ms. Smith warned.

Zion sat back down without responding to her warning. I couldn't help but feel something off-putting about him. I knew I had to be careful around him.
