The End of The Beginning (2)

My feet were firmly planted into the earth, which gave me time to move aside the blow harmlessly. Then suddenly, a deafening explosion resounded throughout the landscape, destroying every bit of the forest behind me while completely obliterating whatever was within the blast radius of the blast area. It's almost as if the very earth itself had become unstable, causing the area around us to collapse in on itself from its weight alone. The sound of crackling fires crackled quietly somewhere close, the heat waves from the fire brushing against my face like tiny rays of sunshine.

"SO YOU DECIDE TO SHOW UP NOW SORA KATAYAMA?!" The Voidwalker said, charging straight towards me.

It seemed like he hadn't taken any damage whatsoever from that attack, which means it was useless, "Damn you!" I cursed aloud, readying my stance.

His approach stopped and his footprints imprinted deeply into the wet soil beneath him, slowing his movements, "That's right. This is it, this is the power of our ancestors that was passed down to you. It can't be denied, boy." He smirked, the flames flickering across the field dancing across his face like fireflies, but more menacing, sinister almost.

"Ahhhh, the bloodlust. The hate, the bloodthirsty feeling you are giving off... I can feel the Oblivion Crystal's power flowing through your body. It's almost ready to be awoken." The Voidwalker grinned. "But first you should see this."

He lifted up his left hand, summoning a purple and crimson mist out of his palm, which seemed like a small amount at first before rising to form a giant mist ball in his hand. A menacing aura pulsated from inside of it.

Then suddenly, a single, small orb dropped out from within the cloud of magic particles onto his open palm and began absorbing the surrounding magical energy around it. The glowing sphere lit up even brighter and it started to pulse violently, shining like an incandescent lamp bulb, creating sparks of electricity crackling throughout the air as they continued on their journey into The Voidwalkers body.

He clenched his fist tightly and tightened his grip around the little orb which began vibrating furiously, increasing rapidly the intensity of the light emanating from its surface while simultaneously generating enormous amounts of pressure.

"ARE YOU TRYING TO DESTROY THE WORLD?!" I yelled.

"You are not qualified to lecture me." The Voidwalker shot back before summoning several white clouds of magic and tossing a wave towards my location.

I swung both my hands up and performed an anti-magic barrier, cancelling his magic, however, the sheer weight and volume of his mana prevented it from affecting him whatsoever, "You're too late, now die!" The Voidwalker grunted as he lunged at me while swinging his sword fiercely. The air screamed at us in a fierce battle cry and the clouds above crackled ominously as thunder rumbled throughout the entire night. The pressure increased immensely making it difficult to even move.

"BASTARD!" I bellowed while parrying another slash from his weapon, only to notice a change occur inside of me once more... The next second the entire world came to a halt... except for him.

There was silence all around me, however, there was a familiar rustling within the trees as a large flock of birds took flight into the night sky. Everything was perfectly clear, almost peaceful looking, serene; everything seemed tranquil as though nothing had happened. But then suddenly, the reality of the situation finally struck me as a terrifying realization dawned upon me. I watched him charge forward once again to fight me. His movements, although faster and stronger than before, still didn't match my own.

"Alright, let's get serious shall we, Sora Katayama!" He yelled, "Your arrogance will one day ruin you... All for such foolish desires and beliefs!" He added while thrusting forward with his two swords in hand towards me. I used my light magic in order to propel myself into the air and create a sphere made out of light magic of my own. The orb then fired multiple beams in rapid succession while being aimed towards the enemy below. He blocked them effortlessly with ease.

The orb exploded, sending large chunks of rock and debris flying everywhere. Then it changed shape into another type of creature called a slime which stretched out and shaped its body around him like a net, binding itself tight against his body and completely stopping his movement entirely.

"There you go." He muttered softly.

As soon as the last piece was completed the magical spell collapsed and a purple-black cloud formed directly above our heads. Lightning and thunder struck everywhere and the pressure increased by a great amount making my head throb painfully, forcing me to clutch at it desperately. "So you think I'm gonna let you kill me?" I grumbled angrily, clenching my fist hard enough to draw blood, gritting my teeth in annoyance, "Don't make me laugh, old man. You think that you're just?" I grinned and snickered slightly.

"You arrogant brat. That power isn't yours to begin with! It's been stolen!" The Voidwalker accused loudly, raising one hand towards me and launching a powerful beam of energy, "Die!"

A powerful wave of purple-black electricity slammed straight into my stomach, ripping through my chest like a hot iron rod being plunged straight into my heart, slicing through my veins while igniting my organs in an intense burst of white-hot fire, causing my brain to fuzz in and out from my senses momentarily before the whole scene disappeared altogether. The shock caused the spell to shatter and he suddenly appeared right next to me and thrust his fist in the direction of my jaw.

However, the attack hit my forehead instead and sent me sprawling onto my back. I sat up dazedly before realizing what happened and immediately got on my hands and knees while rubbing my temple, which had become numb, numb to the pain. My legs quaked lightly while I struggled to stand and leaned heavily against the nearby tree trunk, holding my bleeding head tightly and taking deep gasping breaths while coughing out some red fluid which mixed into a crimson-colored pool on the ground beneath me, the taste of warm blood lingering thickly in my mouth, bringing tears to my eyes.

"Sora I would recommend that you run away before you die trying to be a righteous hero." The Voidwalker suggested coolly, waving dismissively to himself as he did.

I grinned maliciously at him as I charged forward using my maximum output of force and threw a punch directly into his stomach. "How the hell can you get past my defenses?"

He retaliated with a swift kick at my head, sending me back against the ground.

I managed to get on my feet in time, only to receive yet another kick in the abdomen that sent me sprawling on the ground and nearly caused me to puke, and felt something pop within my body that immediately alerted me of a possible broken rib or two. However, this did nothing other than anger me even further, so I let the rage flow throughout my entire frame, igniting me with rage and hate.

I tried to focus on blocking his punches and kicks, but the attacks kept coming back twice as fast, and worse, far more precise than I was ready for. He unleashed several rapid strikes at me, using his own body weight to knock me aside repeatedly. The first time I managed to get away, but when he launched a flurry at me with no repose, my arms just felt heavy.

He towered over me as I struggled to get back on my feet. "You still have not yet seen the full extent of your own potential! If you did, then you'd realize how easy you can defeat me, especially after everything that's happened tonight, including this pathetic attempt at defending yourself!" The Voidwalker declared. "Just like all those foolish dreamers who'd only ever talk big, you think too highly of yourself... After tonight, I wonder if there'd still be anything left of you."

He finally stopped attacking and laughed condescendingly, as if mocking me. He grabbed me and put me in a prison made out of Oblivion Magic. It felt like thousands of snakes had been injected directly into my skin and wrapped themselves tightly around my flesh and bones and tore into my very muscles.

"What is this?!" I gasped weakly, fighting against the chains wrapped around my limbs, trying desperately to break them off, but every time they broke, new ones grew in their place and slowly tore apart my insides, leaving me breathless. I couldn't escape the grip of the chains around my throat either as they constricted even tighter, causing pain that made me gasp uncontrollably. "Help... Please..." I croaked before losing consciousness completely as a result of the heavy damage to my body.
