Larisa got startled from his hard voice scolding her from almost poisoning herself. She was sure she'd never do something that stupid but she oddly felt the strong urge to feel the poisonous flowers which was unlike her. She felt as though she was been possessed for a split second.
Lothaire wondered why she would touch such a poisonous flower that he had strictly warned her against.
"I..I.didn't mean to touch them." She stuttered as she blinked her eyes in a confused state at him. He gave her a hard thoughtful look.
"Stay away from the garden then." He warned sternly as he gave her a wary look. The last thing he wanted was her being poisoned from deadly flowers.
"hmm." She replied as she averted her gaze from him and her mind trailed back to last night remembering the hurtful words she said to him, making her feel uncomfortable because she could feel his eyes on her as they stood there in silence.
"Yes, I'm a selfish demon and I care about no one else but you and I don't mind living that way as long as you're safe and by my side and I'll sacrifice everyone if I have to for it to happen." Lothaire's cold voice resonated in her ears, breaking the awkward silence and there was no regret in his words and she could do nothing but accept his nature, because she could never be able to change his cold heartlessness towards everyone else no matter how much she tried to make him care when he only cared about her and he had made it clear that he'd do whatever it took to protect her and he'd sacrifice anyone for it, pushing her words aside.
Deep down, she felt special because she was the only thing that he cared about and his words almost made a smile slip through her lips but she managed to prevent it from slipping out.
"If you cared about me, you'd care about the people I care about." She said with a small voice as her large hazel sad eyes stared up at him as he towered above her.
"Our bond has nothing to do with anyone else, just us." He stated firmly.
"You care about how I feel, so you'd care if I got hurt from a loved one's death, so you'd do your best to prevent it won't you?" She asked with eager eyes waiting for an answer.
"If it's about Onyx, I never told her to interfere." He stated with a hard expression.
"Why didn't you save her then?" She fired back at him with creased brows in anger.
"She's dead!" Lothaire growled lowly between gritted teeth, he was sick of hearing about Onyx, she was already dead and they should all move on already and he didn't really give a dying fuck about her death. He had killed thousands, so he couldn't get affected by anyone's death, he never did.
Larisa's hazel eyes glistened with unshed tears as he spoke about Onyx with dark uncaring eyes.
"You wouldn't have left me to die if I was in her place instead, would you?" She said with a croaked voice as the tear that threatened to spill out of her eyes rolled down silently on her cheeks.
She was right, he wouldn't even had let the sorceress touch her before unleashing his wrath on her but it was Onyx and he didn't care if she died or not. He was the prince of darkness, an embodiment of evil, so he wondered why she thought he'd care. It was as if she had forgotten who he really was because of his warmth towards her.
"Never." His words were fiercely stated as he pulled her into his arms and hugged her tightly but loose enough to let air pass through her lungs and he was careful not to crush her small body with his big one.
Her sobbing quieted down as her head laid on his hard chest, she felt a rain of comfort wash her immediately she fell into his warm embrace and she didn't want to let go as she forgot about everything else but his comforting embrace.
"What do you want?" His deep voice woke her up from her trance and she was left speechless for a second, confused at his question. "Tell me what you want?" He asked again and she didn't have much on her mind. She would have told him to bring Onyx back to life but she knew it was impossible for him to do that.
She thought of telling him that she wanted to go visit her parents and her best friend but she thought against it, thinking she might never see him again or lose him in the process if she did.
"Nothing." She lied but he didn't need to look at her eyes to know she did.
"Are you sure?" He asked thoroughly, giving her a chance to say out her mind but she nodded, standing firm on her decision because she was too scared she'd lose him if she left Empire D.
Lothaire watched her all night as she slept peacefully and he was relieved greatly when the morning sun came into view and she had no nightmare, which made him strongly believe that the sorceress might have been behind her nightmares but deep down, he couldn't fully relax as he felt a slight uneasiness that maybe, just maybe, the sorcerers were just the beginning but he hoped his instincts were wrong or things would get uglier than it had been.
Larisa opened her eyes slightly with fluttered eyelashes and sleepy eyes as Lothaire's deep voice rang in her ears, waking her up and her face had a frown on it as he disturbed her sleep.
"Wake up love, it's time to go." She heard Lothaire's deep voice say but all she could process in was muffled words disturbing her sleep and she frowned harder as she tried to push him away but Lothaire found her reaction cute and he chuckled softly at the sleepy head. "Please wake up, the pilot's been waiting for more than an hour and I wouldn't mind him waiting more but I'd rather we fly now when the weather's still good. The weather forecast has predicted a bad weather." He explained to the sleepy head but she wasn't taking any word of his in as she spread on the bed, dozing off into a slumber and he smacked his tongue when he looked at the dozed off girl.
"I'll have to bathe you then." He said loudly but he knew she wouldn't hear him as he picked her up into his arms effortlessly and she snuggled closer into his hard chest as she slept comfortably in his arms and he scoffed when he saw how relaxed she was as he walked into the bathroom with her in his arms.
He placed her gently into the large bath tub and her brows creased slightly as she felt the solid object, then she felt a hand pull her shirt up which made her eyes jolt open, half awake as her eyes met Lothaire's golden ones with a questioning look in her face as she realized she was in the bathtub.
"W..What are you doing?" She asked with a perplexed expression as she wondered what she was doing in a bathtub and even more what he was doing taking her clothes off.
"You wouldn't wake up so I thought I should give you a bath instead." Lothaire said with an innocent expression but he had a sarcastic smirk on his face which didn't look so innocent.
"Why did you want me awake?" She queried.
"The pilot's waiting and the weather isn't so good." He answered with a flat tone and she looked at him with confusion etched on her face.
"Pilot?" She asked as if she didn't hear him right as confusion hit her.
"We're flying out." He replied shortly emphasising the 'we' as he stood up to leave her to take her bath.
"To where?" She asked surprised by the news that they were both leaving the country all of a sudden without her knowledge.
"To see your loved ones."
