now that I had the tungsten I plan on using it as the filament in my magic light. I'm basically going to form incredibly small coils with the tungsten and then imbue the coils with light and fire magic.
since the metal I infuse mana into keeps acquiring manna from the atmosphere. it should be able to make a self-sustaining light.
but first in order to do that I need to learn light magic. I started practice and managed to grasp the skill after about 30 minutes.
now I just needed to figure out the structure I wanted for the light bulbs. I think I'm going to make the bottom of the light bulbs from tungsten because of its high melting point and resistance to heat.
however since the filament were awfully made of tungsten I'll use a piece of iron as a barrier between the two.
I'm going to do this because I'm not sure if the filament touching the tungsten will also infuse manna into the base.
I'll have to test that out later, for now I need to make glass. thankfully I know the basics I have mine quite a bit of limestone as I've gathered my metal ores.
now I just need sodium carbonate which can be found by burning plants that grow in sodium Rich soils.
thankfully my identify skill can help here because it can actually show me the makeup of dirt or at least it's main components that make up the majority of it.
I went searching around and managed to find a spot far from the River I gather a large bundle of plants and walked back to the cave.
I closed the door and put a temporary lock on it till I got back. once I was back move the lock and went in and made sure the pups were okay, they were fine and still sleeping.
while I was out I also grabbed sand from the river. the first thing I did was levitate the ball of plants and incinerate them.
I managed to get a large amount of material I needed for the glass. then I added the sodium carbonate, sand, and limestone dust.
I hated it until it melted into a very large ball of glass. then I started taking small pieces and shaping them into light bulbs.
I use the same shape as the lights from my world. I made about 40 then added very small amounts of metal I decided to use the steel I recently made in my free time.
I managed to get a type of reinforced glass although it was only possible thanks to them magic I was using.
then I let them all cool while holding them up and off of everything the large ball of glass was cooling as well.
after about 30 minutes I managed to cool it down using fire magic to slowly pull the heat out of it. otherwise I would have needed at least 24 hours for it to properly cool.
I couldn't do the same for the giant glass Ball but at least half of it was heated just the core was still warm so I put it in my personal dimension.
thankfully the outside was cool enough for it would act as an insulator for the core. at least while I was in my dimension I'm sure it wouldn't work outside.
it seems my personal dimension has many convenient functions. anyway that was time to make the base I made all the bases at once using the tungsten it only took about 20 minutes.
now all I needed was to shape the iron buffer it would also act as the adhesive that would hold the light bulb and the tungsten bottom together.
finally I can move on to the filaments this part would definitely take me the longest. but first I decided to take a moment to check my personal dimension.
I had quite a few new corpses it seems that they're hunting was going well. now it's time to make the filaments I took the tungsten and heated it and slowly extracted it in the form of an incredibly thin wire.
as I extracted I also coiled it at set intervals to make the filament. this is a very time consuming process and took nearly 4 hours to get every filament I needed.
now it was time to see if it would all work out. I started infusing fire and light mana into the filaments. I spent the next 4 hours slowly infusing the manna into them all at once.
I decided to take my time because I couldn't use creation. so I wouldn't be able to fix any problems that suddenly happened.
at the 4-Hour Mark and finally seemed to have worked they hit a decent light level after slowly glowing after the first hour and starting to intensify as time went on.
now that I have them at a decent brightness I decided to stop and see what happens. I watched them for about 30 minutes they didn't seem to be getting any brighter.
however they did give off a decent amount of heat. I finally decided to finish putting it all together. once I attach all the pieces of the light bulb together I actually had 40 different light bulbs.
when I form the base I made sure to add hooks so that I can string or hang them anywhere. I put them all into my personal dimension so that they wouldn't burn anything or break.
I decided to make more steel I had to use my manganese and small amount with my iron since my iron didn't have enough of it to make strong steel.
once that was done I had around 50 ingots of steel. it seems my processing speed is getting faster as I get more used to it.
now I formed the steel into about 10 different spikes that were hooked at the end. I used four in the main cave I used them at each corner.
I used Earth magic to help anchor them. then I used four in the bathroom as well in the same way. I had two left over for later use.
then I reheated one of my steel ingots and started pulling multiple thin wires at once. then I slowly started to weave them together into wire rope.
I decided to use up a few ingots and make quite a of it.my wire rope was only as wide as a common cable cord from my world.
no it was time to string my lines between the spikes I put up. first I ran it like a square and then tightened it as hard as I could using mana and welded the ends together.
the string was more than taught enough thankfully so I didn't have to redo it. then I ran two separate lines and an x shape in the square.
I also did the same for the bathroom. once I was done I decided to hang all my light bulbs. the bathroom was a decent size and needed about five. I put one at each corner and one in the center.
I had to use the other 30 in the main area because of how large it was. now I can finally keep the doors closed and I have to worry about it. of course I still need to add some ventilation tubes so that we don't use up all the oxygen and suffocate.
by the time I was finished the sun was starting to set and it seems nightshade and Elizabeth were on their way they had just climbed over the wall.
