He was told that the Elders wanted to see him. This was a rare occurrence. He was no Vampire of social standing nor did he have political aspirations. He was a friend of Elder Remus' son Caleb. Elias's foot was shaking. He pushed himself back more into his seat. He took a deep breath and tried not to think so much about the Elders.
He looked up and saw a light flickering. It was making a buzzing sound. The bulb was dying. He recalled when he was young and how scared he was of the sun. The Coven was more dark back then. Lighted by oil lamps and flaming torches. He and other children would go close to the edge of the forest where could see the touch of the sun so far away. He was told he could walk in the day but he was so young and he would hear tales about horrible things happening. You would feel your skin was melting and burning your insides. The one that disturbed him was the open wounds that you would get.
He was brought back from his thoughts when he felt a tap on his shoulders. "Hi, Mr. Giaden they are ready for you now." A pretty young woman Vampire said. She smiled at him and tucked a lock of hair behind her ear. Her movements were soft and swift. It reminded him of someone he knew long ago. But this Vampire was not as beautiful. She must have noticed his stare because she looked back and gave a flirtatious smile. He made sure to give her a serious look. It was almost comical how she snapped her head forward as if she hadn't done anything. "Here you are Mr. Giaden," she said as she opened the door. "Thank you." He said and went inside.
There was a long beautifully marble-decorated table with three royal big chairs behind it. He took a
Seat on an office chair at a plain office desk in the middle of the room A tall Vampire with fiery red hair and deep brown eyes walked in with a stack of files. Elias watched him as he placed a pile of a certain amount of files in front of each seat. "Nervous?" asked the Vampire. "I can't believe you put me in this situation," Elias whispered. "Huh? Elias, you don't want the job my father so graciously offered?" the Vampire said loudly. "Hush Caleb..." Elias began to say. Another Vampire walked in with his hands in his pockets " What is it, Elias? Tired of working for us old folks." He said. "No, sir just your son." Elias was explaining. Elias felt like a child. "It's okay Elias. I know how Caleb is" Elder Ramus took a seat.
Elder Ramus was an old Vampire but did not look like a day over fifty. He was old school and still drank blood from the living. They were his demons. They weren't held captive but lived with him and his family. He was insanely wealthy and could support them. It was the reason why he was an Elder. He held much influence in the Coven.
He wasn't a devoted follower of the Lillith Bible. In walked in two more Elders. Elder Dobry and Elder Gosney. Both of them did devote their lives to the Lillith Bible and we're rarely seen. Their skin was an almost translucent white, both had long white hair to the ground, long yellow nails, and wrinkly skin. They both had their differences though. Elder Dobry was round like a snowball and Elder Gosney was small and skinny.
All three were together and seated. It was quiet but you could hear Elder Dobry breathing as if he had run a marathon. Elder Gosney began to speak. " Thank you for coming Elias. You were asked here because of your ability to keep to the rules and your talented skills. Some which include the ability to create Witch potions and incantations." He looked up from the paper at Elias. Elias cleared his throat. "Yes, I was rescued by witches and they nursed me back to health. I thank Lillith every day that you found me and accepted me into your Coven." He said. "Uh-huh." Elder Gosney said and shifted back into his chair. Elder Dobry cleared his throat loudly. "Harumph..Right now we are...*cough* considering your skills*cough*. He said.
" Excuse me and I apologize fellow Elders. What we are saying is that your skills are needed in a special case where only your skills seem to be needed and we need your help." He said.
" I apologize my Elders but is this what we were trying to convey? He leaned back into his chair. "So Elias these files are important. I know you follow the rules and dedicate yourself to the Coven." Elder Remus said.
Caleb walked over and handed him a file.Elias opened the file. There was a picture of a Vampire. A rather young-looking Vampire. Maybe in her twenty's. Her skin was grey and had open wounds all over it. She was wearing a thin brown tunic. It looked like she was just at a hospital.
He looked up from the picture. " Witches?" He said. "Yes" said Elder Gosney.
Elder Dobry pounded
the table with his fist. "*cough*...Damn Witches. We have a truce*cough* *hack*" Elder Gosney shook his head.
"Relax Dobry. Yes, we have a truce. I have spoken to their High Priestess and she agreed to let us bring them to her." He said. "They will not be searching for them," said Elder Remus "
Why not? It's their responsibility." Elias asked. "
They say it's probably one witch that did an
accidental poisoning." Elder Gosney said.
Elias shook his head. "Accidental poisoning? This is ridiculous. That looks like torture." Elias said. "That's why we need you. You can find who did the poisoning and bring them in." Elder Gosney said. Elias didn't have to think long.
"I will do it." Elias said. "You can have help from Caleb. He's good at researching and can guide you." Elder Remus said. He looked over at Caleb. "Now this concludes our meeting. We wish you luck and keep in touch with us. I do hope you solve it sooner than later." Elder Remus said.
The Elders got off their chairs and left the room through a back entrance. Elias got up with the files he was given in his hands. "So just us?" He said. "Seems like it." Caleb said. "Alright let's get to it. We'll pick up some stuff on our way."Elias said. They got into Elias' car and drove away from the Coven to Bludhem.
