She had chills go down her spine. It sounded like the man that had attacked her the other day. She slowly moved to face him. "Eep." She whispered. He did not look like he did that day. He was gray, had black circles under his eyes, and green spots all over his skin. She closed her eyes.
"Look at me!" He said that and waved his hand over his body. Then pointed at her. "Your brother, yeah him. He did this to me." Then he waved his hand over his face. He pointed at himself " Do you know who I am?"
She was hugging herself and replied "Well it doesn't matter to me. Leave this house." He laughed wickedly and went for her. Then all of a sudden his eyes widened and smoke began to come out of his orifices. Blood sprayed on her. "SHHHIIIT" She jumped up and down. It smelled like sulfate. It got quiet. She was left standing. She looks like the character Carrie from the Stephen King book's movie Carrie.
When she looked there was only Nate in front of her. "What just happened?" She asked. "It was a Vampire," Nate said. Then they are real she thought to herself. That man at the shop was a Vampire like the Grandmas said. But he didn't do anything.
"Just go wash that blood off of yourself." He said. When she looked at him he was no better off than she was. "You need to shower too," She said. She went to the bathroom and locked the door. Dew put the warm water on and started rinsing herself. As she began to soap the sponge the vision of what happened popped into her head. She started to cry and let the water run on her. Nate knocked on the door. "Are you okay, Dew?" He asked. She mumbled "Yes." He must have heard her because there weren't any more questions after that. She had washed all the blood and clumps she found off of her.
Dew got dressed and walked into the living room where Nate and Timothy sat on the sofa. She sat on the recliner across them. She had her black hair wrapped up in a towel. She was wearing a white tank and black jean shorts. She sat up and put her hands on her lap. "So?" She said.
Nate cleared his throat and Timothy interrupted. "Are you sure you want her to know? I mean it's a lot" Dew was frustrated. "Yes, I think I should be fine. Considering the circumstances." She said. "Now speak Nate." She said sternly. He started. " We have to go back to when mom was killed." Dew nodded her head softly. " Well for many years we have been told she was killed by a man that was obsessed with her and he was arrested for the crime. This is not true. The killer was a Vampire and mother was a Witch." Dew brought her hands to her mouth. "My god." She said. Nate nodded softly in agreement. He leaned back and took a deep breath in and released it. "So mother was a free spirit. She loved to run in the grass with her bare feet and her curly hair loosely and she was always singing different rhymes and simple incantations. We would always go to the woods and I would sit there and watch the both of you just dance. You would just babble. A Vampire ran into us in the forest one day and he sat while Mom and you performed. The Vampire professed his love for
Mom and Mom declined him. She picked you up and grabbed my hand and we headed back to the house. Everything was fine for months that passed by. Until one day." Nate shut his eyes. She gave him time because she knew this was something very traumatic and rehashing it took a lot of energy.
She got up touched his lap and mouthed to Timothy " Do you want coffee?" Timothy shook his head and went to go up. Dew waved her hand and went to make coffee. She finished making two cups of coffee and came back to Nate. She handed one to him. She went back and sat down. There were tears in Nate's eyes. He sniffed. " I found him...I found him on top of Mom that morning. He was digging into her neck as if she was nothing but meat! He got off Mom and tried to get to me but I slammed the door in his face and went to your room locked the door and grabbed you. We went to the closet and hid. For a while, I heard nothing. I thought everything was fine so we just walked out of the room. The Vampire was there. We would've gotten hurt if it weren't for Timothy's Dad. He saved us."
"We filed the report and the Vampires and Witches that are in the government agreed to make it a crime of passion. It left me with a very bitter taste in my mouth. I hate Vampires and I hate Witches. They don't want to admit who they truly are and try to blend in with humans. Technically we can call ourselves witches." Nate ran his hands through his hair and then gripped the arm of the sofa. He stood up and started walking back and forth. The witch community never reached out to us. "Neither did the Vampires."Me and Timothy. We're Vampire hunters. He pointed to himself and Timothy. "A lot of people are in this town are." Dew sat up straight and arms beside her. She couldn't believe all that she had heard. If it wasn't for that Vampire she would've thought her brother was insane. He sat down silently and looked at Dew with sadness in his eyes. She took his face and cupped it in her hands. "Look at me. I'm your sister. I'm going to learn everything I will learn to be by your side. You will have family." She hugged him. " I tried to keep you safe from all of this. But I couldn't. Wendy can began to teach you."
