Chapter 8: The Battle Against the Uchiha II
Kurama's release was like the bursting of a storm in a clear sky.
The shock wave knocked the Uchiha off their feet, sweeping them across the ground like leaves in a gale.
Kaito and Kushina, exhausted, watched the Nine-Tails with a mixture of amazement and fear.
Kurama's nine tails waved in the air, each a latent threat, as his roar shook the earth, shattering what little was left standing.
Kushina was barely managing to stay conscious.
His body, weakened by the battle and Kurama's release, leaned heavily on Kaito.
He held her, making sure she didn't fall, as a faint light emanated from her chest, slowly restoring Kushina's energy.
She smiled weakly at him, a gesture filled with gratitude, before falling into a deep sleep.
Kurama, upright and with his fiery gaze, faced the Uchiha who, although shaken, were not willing to give in.
His red eyes glowed with the intensity of the Sharingan, and the Uchiha leader, still reeling, raised his voice over the din.
"Don't let the Nine-Tails escape! Use Susanoo! We have to stop him here and now!" His tone brooked no doubt, desperation palpable in every word.
Three Uchiha activated their Susanoo simultaneously.
The spectral figures emerged, gigantic and ominous, with a presence that would have terrified any other enemy. But neither Kaito nor Kurama flinched.
Kaito, from the safety of his barrier, recognized that these manifestations were only shadows of what the true Susanoo could be.
Kurama, indifferent to the display of power, advanced.
His size and strength were enormous, each step he took resounded like thunder and made the ground tremble under his feet.
The tails moved like whips, uprooting trees and throwing rocks into the air with the ease of a giant playing with toys.
One of the Susanoo raised a colossal sword, made of condensed chakra, and swung it towards Kurama with a deadly hiss.
But the Nine-Tails, moving with surprising agility, dodged the blow and counterattacked with a ball of pure energy.
The explosion was deafening, raising a cloud of dust that covered the battlefield, but when the cloud cleared, the Susanoo was still standing, although wobbly.
The other two Susanoo joined the first, merging into an even more powerful and resilient structure.
His massive form, with impenetrable armor and an even larger new sword, seemed unbreakable.
Kaito watched carefully, calculating the destructive power that was about to be unleashed.
He knew that Kurama would have to give his all to overcome this obstacle.
Kurama didn't back down.
With a roar that echoed in the distant mountains, it launched an attack with all of its tails, striking with such force that the ground shattered under the impact, creating a crater that threatened to swallow everything around it.
Kaito, still inside the barrier, felt the shock wave, but the barrier held, keeping him and Kushina safe.
The Uchiha, now fully synchronized, prepared for a joint attack, their Sharingan glowing with an intensity that rivaled that of the flames of hell.
With a unison cry, the spectral figures raised their weapons, directing them at Kurama in a desperate attempt to contain their fury.
Kurama, anticipating the move, concentrated his chakra into his tails.
The Nine-Tails was not just a being of brute force; he had lived long enough to learn from his enemies.
With a speed that belied his size, he caught the chakra sword in the air, stopping it in its tracks.
The ground shook with the impact, but Kurama didn't give an inch.
Kurama roared, his voice echoing like thunder in the storm.
With a titanic effort, he broke the chakra sword into pieces that disintegrated into the air like stardust.
The Susanoo, deprived of their weapon, stagger, their structures beginning to fragment under the pressure.
The wind carried dust and debris, creating a gray veil that partially hid the devastation Kurama had unleashed.
It The Uchiha, still reeling from the destruction of their chakra sword, regrouped inside their Susanoo.
Although their spectral figures showed cracks and wear, the determination in their eyes was unwavering.
They would not allow the Nine-Tails to escape.
"Charge all your chakra in one last attack!" the Uchiha leader ordered, his voice strained, knowing that this might be his only chance to subdue Kurama.
The Susanoo, battered but still standing, began to concentrate their energy, a growing glow surrounding their figures.
The atmosphere charged with electricity as the Uchiha's chakra coalesced into a sphere of pure energy that floated above them, growing with each passing second.
The power accumulated in that sphere could destroy mountains, but the Uchiha had no other choice; They knew that any less risky attempt would be insufficient.
Kaito observed calmly and cautiously.
The danger that this attack represented was not something they could ignore.
But.
He looked at Kurama, who had stopped, assessing the situation.
With his enormous strength, he could not be injured by a technique of such magnitude.
But Kaito and Kushina was another story, he had to do something before it was too late.
Kurama did not move, but his chakra began to concentrate in his mouth, forming a sphere of black and purple energy that crackled with contained violence.
It was a Bijuudama, a technique that concentrated its destructive power in a single point, capable of matching and surpassing the attack that the Uchiha were preparing.
The Susanoo, now fused into a single entity, launched the sphere of fire chakra towards Kurama.
The air vibrated with the unleashed power, and the ground beneath the sphere cracked as it advanced toward its target.
Kurama, without flinching, launched his Bijuudama with terrifying precision, the dark energy cutting through the air with a hum that echoed through the surrounding ruins.
The two attacks collided in the center of the battlefield, and for a moment, everything seemed to stop.
Time froze as both spheres pushed against each other, fighting for dominance.
Then the explosion was deafening. A blinding glare illuminated the sky, and the resulting impact generated a shockwave that obliterated everything around it, turning the earth into a smoking wasteland.
Kaito feeling the overwhelming pressure of the explosion.
Only managing to resist thanks to the energy that part of the explosion was covered by Kurama.
The rocks rose into the air like feathers, and the roar of the collision reverberated throughout the area.
When the smoke finally began to clear, Kaito could see Kurama, who was still standing, breathing heavily but victorious.
The Susanoo, on the other hand, had not had the same luck.
The colossal spectral figure had disintegrated, and the Uchiha who controlled it lay on the ground, wounded and defeated.
Their bodies, without any movement. The battle was over.
Kurama, his eyes still filled with anger, advanced towards the defeated Uchiha.
He could have finished them off right there, but instead, he stopped.
His tails raised threateningly, but he didn't attack, he just turned around and returned to where Kaito and Kushina were.
Noticing Kurama approaching.
Kaito, still holding Kushina, stepped out of the barrier protecting them and approached Kurama.
The bijuu looked at him with its glowing red eyes, waiting.
"Thank you, Kurama," Kaito said, his voice filled with gratitude. "You saved us both."
Kurama watched him for a long moment before responding, his voice resonant and deep.
I did it for my convenience, there's no need to thank brat. I haven't forgotten our promise, human.
But don't mistake me for an ally.
I'm just keeping my part of the deal.
Kushina, slowly waking up, looked at Kurama with tear-filled eyes.
"Thank you," he murmured, his voice breaking with emotion.
The bijuu looked down at her, and for a moment, his eyes softened.
"Take good care of her," was all he said before he vanished in a cloud of chakra, leaving Kaito and Kushina behind.
Kaito watched as Kurama's chakra dissipated, feeling a mix of relief.
The Uchiha were defeated, but it wasn't over.
The ruins of Uzushiogakure were a silent reminder of the dangers that still awaited them.
"We have to keep going," Kaito said, helping Kushina to her feet.
The determination in his eyes mirrored Kurama's.
There was still much to do, and together, they would face whatever came.
