Chapter 17

Zero came out of the portal and Victor was standing in front of the portal dumbfounded.

The reason that Victor was dumbfounded was that Zero had finished the dungeon in record time.

The reason why it was completed in record time was that, contrary to what Zero thought, it was a dungeon you could only enter one time.

This dungeon was one of the only two available E rank quests. In this village there were no quests that were at a higher level. Zero didn't know about this since he was only looking for the lower rank quests.

The dungeon he chose was the hardest of the two, and usually required a party to complete. Even with a party, many people quit halfway and exit the dungeon with an escape scroll.

Zero, however, never needed the escape scroll. In fact, he didn't even know it existed.

I went back to rest in my dorm room. The day was long for me, but it seemed that time goes faster inside the portal than what it does outside of it. I also managed to pass the dungeon in record time, supposedly.

"Sigh"

[What's wrong?] (Shadow)

"I'm just a bit disappointed in a couple of things. Firstly, the fact that there are no more quests higher than E rank. Secondly, I can't enter the dungeon any more. Now the only quest that I can do that is rank E is the one that I wanted to do the least.

[Yeah, spiders also give me the creeps] (Kunaigai)

"Yeah, not to mention they are giant spiders. I guess I'll take a short break and then challenge it. I thought I would take longer to finish every quest so I practically rushed past them. Now I kind of regret doing that."

Zero then went to sleep for the night. Kunaigai, meanwhile, prepared some new gadgets by himself, consulting Shadow every once in a while.

I got up early and went out to take a stroll through the village. I saw some chips in a vending machine and bought them. The way to buy them was simple. I just had to choose what I wanted through my watch, and I could buy it with the coins which were also stored in the watch.

This watch is pretty cool. I wonder what else it can do.

I picked up the chips and went to sit on some bench. I then ate the chips.

Now that I think about it, this is the first time I have eaten chips in years. This also seems like the first time I'm taking a day to rest. It feels weird taking a proper rest day.

There wasn't much in the way of entertainment, so after I finished my chips, I went straight to my dorm room.

Laying on my bed, I started thinking of going to a dungeon, but I stopped myself since I decided that today would be a rest day. I got up and started doing some light exercises to maintain myself occupied.

After I finished exercising, I got slightly hungry and went to the cafeteria. I ate a sandwich and then went on to my room.

The whole day was uneventful and when I woke up the next morning, I felt even more tired than I would've been after finishing a dungeon.

"It's been so boring, thank goodness it's now nighttime."

[Is that so?] (Shadow and Kunaigai)

Shadow and Kunaigai had a pretty good time doing their own things. They weren't bored since they were both working on some stuff together.

Zero then went to sleep and when he woke up, he went to spider dungeon.

I felt better today knowing that I would go to another dungeon.

[I think you're getting too addicted to going into dungeons.] (Kunaigai)

[I don't think that's it. I think he just doesn't have anything else to do.] (Shadow)

[Ah so he's a busybody.] (Kunaigai)

I would answer to what they're saying, but I can't speak out loud without looking crazy.

I went on to the quest board and got the only quest that I hadn't completed. It was supposedly easier than the orc quest, but I can't take it easy just because it's easier.

I entered the portal and just like every other quest it started in a cave, but going down further the cave started expanding. It got bigger every couple of steps I took. Shortly after, I started finding a couple of spiders.

This time I took out a hunting knife from the Gunvault, and I prepared myself to fight against the spider.

This is my last quest for now, I won't try to rush through it like the other ones.
