Feng Ran
Feng Ran tried to sound confident as she spoke. "Excuse me.. I hope you kids don't mind but do you have any food? If it's not a bother could you please lend some?"
Mu Qingqing smiled. She was about to say yes and offer some when a hand grabbed her backward, hiding her behind a wide back.
It was Mizuki Rei that stood infront of his fiancee. "Sorry, lady. We don't have any extra. As you can see, our group just came to get some supplies. If you want some, go get them yourself."
Feng Ran's face burned red. She did not expect these kids to turn her down and not give her face even though she asked so nicely.
"You.. guys. How could you refuse to help when you clearly see people in need?!
Lilian Mo clicked her tongue. "Wake up. It's the apocalypse. If you're expecting people to offer charity work for you, then just die. There's no such a thing anymore. You have to grit your own teeth and fight so you could survive. Otherwise, you can go offer yourself as plant food for the mutants."
Lilian Mo started to walk forwards. Mu Qingqing wanted to say something but she also pondered about her Momo's words.
It was true that in this age and time of the apocalypse, people would fight over food and water. Not to mention it was already dangerous with all the mutants roaming around.
She remembered how bizarre it was to stab a person... no, a mutant's head. It was so easy when the flesh parted and gave way as soon as she stabbed the knife down. Then there was black blood.
Mu Qingqing gulped. She was scared at first, especially when her Momo ordered her to kill people without even blinking.
She really thought her Momo had told her to kill actual people but her heart eased up when she found out that they were mutants. She was actually relieved when she saw them rise from the ground and turn into ugly monsters.
Her conscience became clear when she realized that she wasn't fighting humans but mutants.
With this in mind, she was able to kill the first mutant that came after her with decisiveness.
It helped that she felt stronger when she drank the liquid that her Momo gave her.
Mu Qingqing was determined to survive. After seeing the sad and angry look on her Momo's face, her heart ached for her. Her Momo suffered for her because she was weak. It was always her Momo who was saving her and coming to the rescue.
Mu Qingqing followed after the girl's proud back with a clear look on her face. She almost completely forgot about her fiancé until he called out her name.
"Qingqing, what's on your mind? You weren't listening when I called out your name."
Lilian Mo glanced at them.
"You reminded me of something by saying that. Let's make up codenames for each other. It's better to hide our identity during these times. We can't trust anyone easily. Otherwise, we might get betrayed. I've experienced it before so I'm saying this to the both of you to give you some warning."
Mizuki Rei blinked his eyes with interest. "You were betrayed?"
Mu Qingqing turned to Lilian Mo with a face that was clearly demanding information.
Lilian Mo shrugged. "I trusted the wrong people. I saved a woman, lost an arm in the process, and got pushed by said woman into a horde of mutants so her group could escape. It was so painful being torn apart that I almost couldn't feel anything when I died."
The couple was taken aback by her casual way of sharing her death but they immediately felt a shiver running down their spine.
How could a person be so cruel as to sacrifice the person that saved them? Talk about being shameless!
Mu Qingqing's face contorted with rage. "Momo! Tell me who did it! I'll tear the bitch's face apart and feed her to the dogs!"
"Qingqing, don't say that..." Mizuki Rei was feeling conflicted.
His little fiancée who was as harmless as a kitten before was slowly turning into a wildcat and it was all because of Lilian Mo!
"Qingqing, you don't have to do it yourself. I'll do it for you. I'll avenge Momo." He said softly, trying to placate her.
Mu Qingqing shook her head stubbornly. "No way! Rei, I will definitely take revenge for Momo on my own! She's my Momo so of course, it has to be me who does it!"
Lilian Mo ignored the two and pulled out a dagger. She broke the chains that were holding the door to the supermarket. With a flashlight, she illuminated the whole area and calmly observed whether there was a mutant inside.
Her eyes narrowed when she heard a sound.
A vine shot out suddenly from her left. Lilian Mo swung her hand out, the dagger sliced through the vines like it was paper.
With a vicious look on her face, she threw the flashlight to a shocked Mizuki Rei and lunged towards the mutant plant.
Fire licked the blade of her dagger as she plunged it down towards the exposed kernel, making the decisive blow.
Her movements were so swift and fast that the mutant plant was unable to fight back.
Lilian Mo felt the presence of a flower resin and dug out the innards. She saw a round bead that was small and somewhat yellowish.
It was a grade one flower resin. This resin was quite valuable in the apocalypse since it could only be found in plants and was as rare as dual ability users.
The flower resin had the ability to heal small wounds and injuries when ingested.
The higher the grade, the stronger the healing effects.
She was already lucky for finding one on the first day.
Lilian Mo discreetly hid it into her space and turned around to face the couple.
"Gather all the things you can carry. Prioritize food and water."
