MIYAGI-DO DOJO
At the dojo, David, wearing headphones, was practicing his kicks on the training dummies. As he threw each kick, he was singing loudly in Spanish:
*Una joseadora vive en hoteles
Se hace las uñas y no hay quien los soporte
Que sea cara y no quiera motele'
Guarde secretos si vamo' a la corte
Que sea shooter, shooter, shooter, shooter, oh
Vele mi espalda por si las moscas*
While David sang at the top of his lungs, Dimitri and the others gathered to review the new All Valley Tournament guidelines.
"Sensei, the tournament will now also include skill and weapon demonstrations, as well as a female division," Dimitri pointed out.
As they discussed the tournament updates, David remained in his own world, completely unaware, continuing to sing:
*Una nena mala es lo que busco
¿Cómo lo hago? es injusto
He say, she say, yo no lo escucho
Acabo de cobrar, perdón si me luzco
Una latina que sea Bayamón
Esconda mi 9 dentro su mahón
Cuenta los chavos y también los kilo'
Los mete en su cartera de cocodrilo*
Noticing how David was lost in his music, Dimitri walked over to him and tried to remove his headphones. Instinctively, and fueled by the music, David grabbed Dimitri's hand and took him down with a quick maneuver, his fist stopping just inches from Dimitri's face.
"Whoa, Dimitri, that could've gone badly. Sorry about that. When I get lost in music, it's like I get transported somewhere else… haha," David said, slightly embarrassed.
Dimitri got up with David's help, brushing himself off before replying, "Well, the All Valley rules have changed. Besides fights, there'll be skill and weapon demonstrations now, and more importantly, a female division. Not that it matters—between Sam, Eli, and you, we're bound to win anyway."
"Hey, have you talked to Eli yet?" David quickly changed the subject. "He hasn't been answering calls, and you're his all-time best friend."
"Right after this, I'm heading to his house. I know where his mom hides the spare key. Tomorrow, I'll drag him back here if I have to!" Dimitri said, his eyes lighting up with determination.
David gave him a thumbs up, about to return to his training, when an idea struck him. He approached Sensei LaRusso.
"Sensei, I need some advice."
"Of course. It's rare for anyone to ask for advice, but I'm all ears," LaRusso replied.
"Well, it's more like a favor. I want to buy a car. Nothing fancy or new, just, you know, something to take on dates and stuff. I was wondering if you have anything at your dealership. You know, something with the three B's—bueno, bonito y barato," David said, finishing the last part in Spanish.
"The three B's?" LaRusso asked, confused. His Spanish wasn't great.
"You know—good, nice, and cheap," David clarified.
"Haha! I've got just what you need. Stop by the dealership anytime, and I'll give you the family discount," LaRusso said, making the [👌] gesture.
"Haha, thanks, Sensei LaRusso. I'll swing by right before the tournament. I want to surprise someone," David said with a grin.
Author's Note:
Sorry for the lack of updates—on New Year's Eve and Day, I had to pull double shifts, and my brain is fried. By the way, although this is a Cobra Kai fanfic, there will be times I focus more on the MC's romance with Tory than on the fights or events, like the Mexico trip with Miguel, Robby, and Johnny.
Have a great day! I'm going to sleep—I really need it.
P.S. The song is Standard by Young Miko. If you understand Spanish, give it a listen—it's great!
