Chapter 14: Probing Questions

I could feel my heartbeat accelerate as soon as I had stared at the image on my phone. Rage welled up inside of me, and I fisted my arms on the table without even realizing it.
"How could I have been such a poor judge of character?" I was close to cussing out loud, but since I was in a fancy restaurant with plenty of children around, I pulled myself together and released my breath through my mouth, but it still didn't help much. "This is the most unreasonable thing anyone has ever done to me, and I cannot even imagine how someone who used to say they loved me, could've changed so much overnight."
A passing waiter glanced at me nervously, as did a few customers seated near us. However, I was far too worked up to give a shit.
