Liam
I woke in fragments.
First, I was aware of the fluttering pain in my chest, a dull roar in my right side and shoulder.
I was still alive, I realized. Last night after being shot with the arrows and the fire that filled my blood, I had been sure that I was going to die.
Next, the scent of pear filled my senses - Ivy.
I moved to sit up when the weight and warmth of another were pressed to my side. Finally, I opened my eyes to see her laying next to me in my bed.
She must have spent the entire night beside me.
Last night the fear that had I felt when I saw that arrow headed for Ivy nearly shattered me, I remembered that but why?
I cared about Ivy, this I knew. My kind was physically unable to be indifferent toward anyone within their pack.
On some level, I would always care about her well-being. But to take an arrow for her? To risk death? I didn’t even think I would have attempted that for either of my idiot brothers and we were blood.
So why her?
