Chapter 10
“Where’s the children’s section?” Chris said.
“It’s downstairs,” Bobby said. “You can take the stairs, or there’s an elevator.”
“Thanks. Ted, why don’t you run on downstairs, and I’ll catch up with you in a minute or two?”
“Okay,” Ted said and headed for the stairs.
The librarian smiled when they were alone and looked as though he was about to say something, but Chris stopped him.
“I appreciate your interest, Bobby,” Chris said, “but the ‘Uncle Mickey’ that my little brother referred to is my partner.”
“Darn,” Bobby said. “Why are the good ones always taken?”
“Keep up the search, Bobby. Your day will come.”
He and Bobby chatted until another customer approached the desk, then Chris headed downstairs in search of Ted, who was already busily examining the shelves of books.
