Chapter 11

From the sandwich shop, Chris and Ted went home. Ted headed upstairs with his library books, and Chris settled down in the back porch swing to kill time until Mike’s scheduled arrival.

When Mike arrived, the first thing he said was, “George told me about your adopting your brother.”

“Yeah. I never knew that I had a brother until a week ago. The whole situation is so bizarre that I’m still having a hard time getting used to it. I don’t want to waste a lot of your valuable time during work hours, but I bought Ted a desktop computer, and it needs parental controls.”

“How does he connect to the Internet?”

“We have a wireless router, and there’s a wireless modem in the machine. You told me where to find one on this side of town.”

“Okay,” Mike said. “Let’s have a look at your setup.” Mike checked the router first, then gave Chris a look.

“What’s the matter?” Chris said.

“There’s no password on this thing.”

“Should there be?”
