Heyday.
Caroline Edwin had rested at home for a day, but on the morning of the second day, she was woken from her sleep by the ringing of her cellphone.
She opened her eyes, sleepiness still clouding her gaze, as she picked up the mobile phone from the nightstand.
Seeing the caller ID, the sleepiness in her eyes dissipated instantly.
Caroline pursed her lips, threw off the covers, got up, and walked to the window in a pair of soft slippers, drawing back the curtains.
Her voice was hoarse, "Hello, teacher."
Through the floor-to-ceiling windows, she saw the garden in the chill of winter, with all the flowers withered away.
The leaves from the trees in the courtyard had also fallen to the ground, and a few more would render them completely bare, like commanding officers at attention.
A voice came from the earpiece, "Come over to my house today, I have something to discuss with you. If you no longer consider me as your teacher, then there's no need to come."
