YOU'RE THE BEST DAUGHTER

Writer's POV

Jessy could be seen running around like someone who is in danger. But right now she cared less about what any other person thought about her, all that mattered to her at this point was saving her sick mother. She already lost her father before and she cannot afford to lose her mum too.

As she ran she failed to notice her friends calling out to her, they kept on calling her but she didn't hear them and so they ran after her trying their best to catch up with her. One could tell how worried they were for their friend just by looking at them.

Not quite long they spotted Jessy entering a bank so they chose to wait outside for her.

After a few minutes she rushed back outside but before she could continue running, she felt something or should I say someone pulled her back and she turned around furiously ready to lash out at whoever it was but she calmed down a little when she found out it was just her friends and she could tell they followed her here because of how worried and sweaty they looked. She immediately felt bad for not noticing them all along, I mean these girls were like sisters to her and seeing her running like that, of course, they'll be worried and she knew that. So she told them her mother was sick.

Bella's POV

I was on my way back from an interview when I saw Tina coming out from a coffee shop.

"Hey, Tina over here" I yelled waving my hands so she could see me. She quickly crossed over to my side of the road and hugged me.

"Hi Bella, how was your interview? I'm sure you got the job. Am I right" she smiled. Tina has always been a shy person and the only people she feels confident around are Jessy and me. We are the only people she has except for her grandpa. We all have similar stories. I live with my mother, she and Dad had me as a result of a one-night stand. But he refused to take responsibility for me saying he had a family so Mum had to raise me all by herself. Her parents wanted me flushed out of their lives but Mum refused and got kicked out of her house that's how she ended up in this neighbourhood. She made sure I graduated from school cause she couldn't and that's why I'm the only graduate among my friends.

Tina lost her parents in a fire accident leaving her with her grandpa. She was raped by one of her lecturers so she dropped out. She kept it a secret from her grandpa cause he has a weak heart she just said she hates school and she was learning how to make clothes instead. She's good at creating designs.

Jessica's parents were once wealthy but then her dad died in a car accident. Her father's parents never really liked her mum so they kicked her out of the house. Jessy's mum was a maid and an orphan that's why they never liked her. Jessy was already 18 then so she left with her mum and things have not been good for them. Jessy couldn't further her education, she tried finding a decent job but in the companies she went to, all the men there always wanted her to sleep with them first. I mean who wouldn't have seen Jessy, the girls got the body of Nicki Minaj and face like an angel. The only job she got was that of a waitress. 

I was snapped out of my thought by Tina, I almost forgot we were still standing here.

"Oh yeah the interview went well but I was told to wait for a call from them. I don't know if I'll be given the job or not" I explained

"You don't have to think negatively just learn to be positive about...." We were cut short by someone running past us.

"Hold on Tina isn't that Jessy," I said staring at the dark hair and figure of the person who just ran past us.

"Jess, Jessy" We kept yelling but got no response, and we decided to run after her.

We kept on running and calling out to her until we saw her run into a bank, so Tina and I decided to wait outside for her and also catch our breath.

"I know Jessy has always been good at sports but I've never seen her run that fast" I lamented

"Who knows what the problem could be, she looked so scared," Tina thought out loud 

"We'll just have to wait for her explanation once she comes out"

Some moments later she came out wanting to run off when I grabbed her arm to stop her.

I could see fear in her eyes but she was trying hard to hide it.

"Jessy, what's up with you? We saw you running and followed you." Tina beat me to it asking her exactly the question I had in mind.

"Yes, Tina's right. So tell us why you're were running, you got us worring about you."

"Girls my mum, she's in the hospital and I have to go right now you can come too I'll tell you everything when we get there" she spoke very quickly. Tina and I followed her immediately.

I understand what she's going through and I know she's scared, her mum and little brother are all she has left in this world.

We arrived at the hospital and she went straight to the doctor's office while Tina and I stood outside.

As soon as she came out we rushed towards her.

"What exactly did the doctor say is wrong with your mother?" I asked

"She has..... My mother has cancer and she's had it for a while now" She chocked as she cried. saying I was shocked would be an understatement. She looked so healthy, who would have thought that such a good-looking woman like Mrs Anastasia is sick talk more of having cancer?

"But did you notice anything strange about her lately cause she looked okay," Tina asked

"No she didn't tell me, I guess I was not a good daughter to her maybe that's why she kept me in the dark about her illness" she choked on her words.

"Look I know you're hurt but this is not the time to blame yourself, okay, it's time to be strong for your mother," I told her

"You don't understand I was selfish. I was busy thinking about how much that bastard hurt me I forgot to look after my mum" She just kept on blabbing.

"Look at me Jessy, you're the best daughter any mother could ever want. You were once like a princess living in a huge mansion with maids following your orders. You were given a chance to choose between your wealth and your mother by your grandparents, and you chose her over money and fame. Tell me what more can a mother ask for? You dropped out of college for her to stop worrying about the cost and you've been happy since then. Please stop crying now, sweetheart." I tried all I could to comfort her.

"Jessy we are here for you okay" Tina cooed 

"Thanks, girls, I love you so much" she subbed 

"But what were you doing at the bank and what was in the envelope you took to the doctor's office," Tina asked the most obvious question. But Jessy just kept looking at the floor not saying a word.

"Jess, say something." I urged.

"The doctor asked for some deposit. He said I need to get 1 million dollars for the surgery. So I deposited my savings" 

"1 million dollars? How are you supposed to get such money?" Tina inquired.

"Wait if you gave them your savings... I thought it was meant to cover Jeremy's school for a while?" I entailed

"Look, Jessy, we are here for you no matter your decision. Okay? I have a little cash saved up as well we can add that for now and work hard for the rest." Tina informed

"I'm expecting my salary for the month, I'll send it to you as soon as I get it." I agreed

"You girls don't have to worry about that. I'll find a way. Besides, Tina your grandpa needs his medication and you Bella, you just got this job. I remember you said you need to pay your rent. I got this." She replied trying to act brave.

"Allow us to help Jessy " Tina pleaded

"No, it's fine girls. I can manage. "

"We are helping you and that's final." Tina and I chorused.
