Chapter 23 Day of the attack

No one asked about Sydney's fighting skills again or said anything about it. All males were in pain in her behalf but they didn't let it show. At midday, the scout beastmen returned with news on the location of the strays colony and all that was left was to attack. They had to move the battlefield to a less populated part of the city and according to Sydney's opinion, it was under the guise of her going to visit the land where her home was to be established.

All her tactics were different from what they were used to but they listened to her without question.

Day of the attack.

After leading the strays to believe that all Sydney's mates were off to do her bidding and only left with a blind beastman, they dared to attack not knowing that they were walking into a trap!

As exciting as it was, it was a bit scary. Sydney looked at her blood soaked hands after killing the tiger with her bare hands, it wasn't that she had never killed, she had but this was a feeling in a whole different level!

Distracted for a while, she heard a vicious growl from behind her snapping her from her thoughts and turned around only to see that figure of a tiger pouncing on her grow in her vision. With a cry, she crouched to the ground protecting her head with her hands since she knew it was late for her to dodge the attack. A black spotted panther tackled the tiger stray midair and by the time they landed on the ground, a few metres away with a thud, the tiger stray was dead with his neck broken. As a four rank beastman, he stood no chance against a nine rank beastman.

Waiting for a while, the pain didn't come and Sydney opened her eyes only to see the blood bath before her and dead bodies of different stray beasts bathed in blood. Ken and Shawn were growling daring any other stray to step forward if they dared. Those within the vicinity sadly had been dealt with already leaving two frenzied beasts who were on high alert protecting their female sheilding her with their enormous wolf bodies with their fur covered in blood of their enemies.

Sydney who was admiring the scene before her felt a puff of hot air at her neck making her flinch. Her already throbbing heart thumped wildly as if escaping her rib cage and her mind ran zillion miles on how to counter the enemy who was already at her neck and would kill her any second.

Her whole body shook as if undergoing spasms and looked at the two wolves before her who seemed very close yet too far from her. She bit her lower lip holding back a sob but her breath wa already shaky..she wanted to call the two wolves discreetly. But before she could open her mouth to say a word, a rough and prickly tongue lapped from the base of her neck to her hair line shocking her. She took a sharp turn almost screaming and saw that it was Ash and he was looking at her with his emerald sharp eyes. She let out a cry of relief her tense body shaking. Ash looked at Sydney in confusion as he did lick her to comfort her but didn't expect her to only fall down in a pool of herself. She was like a scared baby deer whose legs gave up on her

He was seated his body sheilding her entire frame. With Sydney who was crouched to the ground, her back and the sides of her body were perfectly hidden in his enormous body.

This wasn't part of the plan!!! she thought to herself but didn't make an attempt to move out of her protective shield. For a moment there, she almost died when that Tiger beastman attacked but she was luckily saved.

After Sydney drafted her attack tactics, no one opposed to them but when she fell asleep, all the males took it upon themselves to make adjustments. They weren't going to let Sydney engage in the battle for long. Three more beast kings were involved and asked not to alert the city residents.

An army of flying beastmen were commanded by Caden to carry huge stone boulders and use them to smash the strays colony while those that dared to escape were dealt with from the land.

In history of battles, this was the first ever battle where the city of beastmen didn't lose any beastman and they were victorious aganist the strays. Those five and four rank strays were also dealt with silently and it only came to the beastmens attention after everything had been dealt with.

Caden and his group also fought one of the most convenient battles ever. As the colony was established on a flat terrain with grass houses, smashing boulders on the strays became easy and those who attempted to escape were dealt with by Carlos and the other other beast kings.

By the time it came to the notice of the beastmen in the city that there had been a stray invasion, the whole place had been cleared of any strays. Those with females rushed to their mates sides and also some who didn't have mates were allowed to act as guardians for the females which further increased their chances of winning over the females attention.

Some beastmen who fancied Sydney ran over to the city hall to protect their beloved female and also get noticed by her. With puffed chests and imposing auras, they sat guard in their beast forms while others inspected the area for any strays.

Caden wa the first to return with the group of eagle beastmen who had accompanied him. Landing on the ground, he transformed into his human form and took heavy steps towards Sydney who was almost in the city lord's embrace as she leaned against his warm belly.

Seeing Caden, Sydney beamed her green eyes twinkling in happiness. Caden snatched her from the ground and carried her in his arms taking deep breathes of her scent. She was safe!!!. Sydney circled her arms around Caden's neck and burried her small face in his neck. "You've returned!!!" she said but her voice was muffled.

I promised I would!" Caden tightened his hold around her. He basked in her scent for a while and then looked around. His clansmen were dragging the bodies of the strays away from the place. They knew females hated blood and didn't expect for their Prince to bring her out during such a dangerous time. With stomachs full of questions, they didn't dare utter then and only did a thorough cleansing of the place.

Shawn who had also run off to inspect the place returned after confirming that there were no strays left. Sensing the eagle beaso, he knew that Caden had also returned successfully. He walked over and nudged his cold nose on Sydney's calf drawing her attention.

Struggling out of Caden's hold, he put her to the ground and she hugged Shawn's wolf body! "You fought bravely!" she praised him as she ruffled his fur and a purr erupted from his chest feeling a lot of sweetness. His female had acknowledged his actions...it was he first time and he couldn't stop running himself on her purring endlessly.

The eagle beastmen that were present were drowning in vinegar! Their Prince's female was so loving!!!

Sydney withdrew from her hug with Shawn and turned to Ken. His big brown eyes were trained on her in anticipation. Was he also going to be embraced? Was he!!! Really?!!! He walked over to her side.

Sydney intended to only smile and thank him for his contribution but was shocked when Ken placed his wolf head over her shoulder and begun purring like a spoilt kitten. The rumble was strong! She speechlessly looked at Caden for help but he just gave her a sad smile. "Thank you for your contribution." Sydney said and drew away. Ken froze hearing the dry compliment and all his fantasies crumbled to the ground. He turned away and ran off with a gloomy heart!

Sydney watched Ken's retreating figure and sighed. What's with him?!!!
