19. The Beginning of The End

Fueled by his memories, Nick became fully enraged. A scream quickly turned into a growl as his stature grew. Barring his fangs at the dwarfed beast before him, he quickly took hold of her throat. With the swiftness of his actions, everything could have ended right then and there. Vengeance filled his mind. He wanted everyone accountable for that night to suffer.

From the side, Jin could only watch in awe. She knew she was never a match for Abby and yet Nick easily grabbed the upper hand. Just how far could his strength reach now that his changing is under control.

Abby slowly began reverting back to her former self. Her willpower had shattered at the sight of Nick's beastly form. Never had she seen a being like him. She began to plead to him in the hopes that some humanity remained within. "I'll leave, tell them that Jin is long dead already! You'll never see me again l, I swear!"

Unconvinced by her actions, Nick pinned her to the wall. Holding her and inch from the ground, he too reverted back. Despite being in his human body again, his strength remained unchanged. There was no struggle for him to keep Abby suspended above to floor. Tired of her face and slightly calmer now, he threw her across the room. Landing with a thud on the hardwood, she slid the remaining distance out he door. "Leave and return to the others. Tell them that the next time one of you shows your face to me I will begin the slaughter."

Nick issued a challenge to the entire pack of beast with that one statement. 'Kill me if you can; I'll kill all of you if one fails'. As much as the desire for revenge coursed through his veins, Nick was no longer consumed by the thought. He had Jin with him and the bloodbath, no matter how single sided, would drag her into it. Should he die in the end, he would not care so long as she was safe.

Seeing Mike dragging Abby away from the door with his one good arm, Nick slammed it shut and latched the deadbolt. Would that stop a beast, by no means. Would it create a louder noise for him to awaken to, absolutely. Consciously and unconsciously, his every action from here on will revolve around survival.

Seeing him lost in thought, Jin slowly came up behind him. Silently she wrapped her arms around his waist and up to his chest. Resting her head on his back, she was ready for bed. The events that had transpired moments ago had entirely ruined her mood.

Feeling as though something was off with her, Nick turned around. Taking her into his arms, his head lay atop hers. "Let's get some sleep. We can head out tomorrow and find someplace to truly call home. If we can't find it, then we'll build one again." Feeling her grip loosen, Nick carried Jin to the bedroom where they fell asleep within each other's arms
