Luck or Misfortune?

The spectators stared absently at Aaron, who stood before the unconscious gangster with a deformed chair in his hands. Aaron tossed the chair aside, placed his hand in his pocket, and said indifferently, "Tough bastard."

As soon as he spoke, however, his heart skipped a beat. When the sinister-looking gangster hit the ground, a thin transparent line of Spirit Energy seeped out of his body, circling the area.

"It's that thing again!" Aaron froze for a moment before reaching out to absorb the Spirit Crystals.

Aaron controlled his excitement and maintained a poker face, though his eyes shone bright.

"You, you!" Adrian muttered, finally regaining his senses. His face filled with astonishment, he stammered and didn't know what to say.

Michael and Tom looked at Aaron in shock, as though seeing him for the first time.

"Why aren't you getting up? Does the floor feel nice?" Aaron laughed.

"You're my biological brother from now on. You hid it from us really well," Michael laughed, shouting excitedly.

Sara ran over in small steps, staring at Aaron with glistening eyes all the while.

"Enough. Why are you shouting like this? When did I hide it from you? You just didn't ask me," Aaron replied helplessly.

"Bastard, how dare you hit me? Charge! Kill this little brat!" The sinister-looking gangster climbed up from the ground, wiping the blood off the edge of his lips, barely able to speak. A disturbing bulge formed at the back of his head, and there was enmity and hatred in his eyes, even killing intent when he shouted to the people beside him.

"Sir, he's a cultivator too... They all are!" One of the gangsters said, looking at Aaron in fear. It was obvious they were normal people, how could they hope to fight a cultivator?

The sinister-looking gangster had been knocked out like a ragdoll before they could even see when or how Aaron hit him. As normal people who weren't even cultivators, what help could they offer?

"Useless!" The sinister-looking gangster kicked his friend and shouted at Aaron, barely able to keep standing. "You bastard! Tell me your name if you dare. Wait for me to call my men."

Aaron suddenly walked forward, causing the sinister-looking youth to flinch and take a few steps back. Although Aaron wouldn't be his match in a one-on-one fight, right now, not only were all of his friends cultivators, but the gangster could barely speak or see properly.

'If I beat him up again, would there be more Spirit Energy?!' Aaron thought, his eyes fierce. He was amazed by what he could do.

'Killing monsters will give you more experience! Is this the correct way of using my ability?' He pondered the question briefly, but now was not the time to delve into it.

Aaron lifted the corners of his lips and replied, "What are you afraid of? My name is James... James Ferlier. I'll give you half an hour to call your men. If you're late, I won't wait for you."

"Okay, wait for me right there." The sinister-looking youth left the Wild Boar Pub in a haggard state.

After they left, Tom couldn't help but laugh. "Aaron, you're so bad, pushing the blame onto James. If he knew what you did, he would probably hate you to death."

Aaron's eyes flickered with a cold, intense anger that he kept hidden from the rest. He couldn't believe James had been so callous as to ruin an entire family's livelihood over something as petty as a grudge. It reminded him all too well of what had happened to his own family in his previous life.

"Let's go home," Aaron said abruptly, turning to leave.

Adrian, who had been itching for a fight, protested. "Are we leaving just like that? We can't just let them get away with this."

"Are you an idiot?" Aaron snapped. "We have no idea how many people they could bring back with them. We could be outnumbered or facing someone far stronger than us. It's not worth the risk."

Micheal chimed in, backing Aaron up. "He's right, Adrian. We were lucky to get out of there alive. Let's not push our luck any further."

Aaron nodded in agreement. "Let them look for James if they want, I'm going home."

They left the pub and drove away into the night, hoping they wouldn't be followed.

If that bunch of people wanted to find him, they would need some luck, and even if they did find him, no one knew if it would be their luck or their misfortune…
