A kind of... weak but wonderful power was resisting the commands I had given to this body.
It was even attempting to expel me from the body.
This power seemed to have existed from the beginning, but it was only after I had the thought of going to Frost that this resisting force became increasingly apparent.
Duncan stopped in surprise, and although the force of resistance was always present, he slowly moved his feet to the edge of the wreckage and looked down at the calmed sea surface.
He spoke softly, "I thought you had disappeared—usually, after the heart stops beating, the soul leaves quickly."
Then he fell quiet, sensing that weak but stubborn power. After a moment of silence, the lips of the body moved twice: "Leave..."
Duncan slowly closed his eyes.
