Chapter 9 - Emperor Kong Ming

Eventually, time passed and Yun Tian didn't advance in his adventure in order to spend time with Yun Mei getting closer to her, and when he's not around she would be with Mio and Mia who would educate her on how to flirt with Yun Tian. She took her duty of being a wife candidate seriously learning everything but her talent was lackluster in some. Still, this didn't discourage her, and focused her attention where she is best.

Yun Mei was straightforward and acted on her instinct where she spoke what was on her mind quite often. She would take every opportunity to cuddle with Yun Tian. The Monkey Girl couldn't act like a maiden because she was a free-spirited person which meant it was difficult for her to act maidenly but Yun Tian still enjoyed the way she was.

He began to help cultivate telling her that she would need to train if she wanted to stay by his side and Yun Mei happily trained for him.

He taught her [ Nirvanic Primal Chaos ] due to her attribute, form, bloodline, and physic that accelerated her cultivation that within a week reached Demigod rank that has the prowess of a Heavenly Fate Rank cultivator. Yun Tian taught her Bo Staff technique and other combat techniques promising that once he reached certain mastery would make her a gift that motivated her even more.

Yun Tian wondered if he was spoiling them far too much but they were happy and didn't mind it since she was being diligent in her training. Her training resulted in her temperament changing and mature yet still had mischievous antics that stem from her origin as a Monkey.

She became more radiant and powerful, exuding a profound chaotic law energy that dances around her. Yun Mei was a powerhouse that few can contend with but Yun Tian didn't want to spoil her and give the demon beast to fight and help her grow.

Heck her speed is due to the attribute Chaos where even without much training was a lot faster compared to other attributes! This is the reason within a week went from Gold to Demigod Rank making insane progress!

Normally, a person who reaches Demigod Rank wouldn't be able to break through due to the fact a different kind of energy is needed is called Heavenly Energy, A type of energy similar to Soul Force and Law Energy. Just as with Law Energy, it is separated into elemental types, however, it is more powerful than law energy and is considered the most fundamental of all energy.

It can only be cultivated by someone who has broken into legend rank. Only those who have comprehended Heavenly Energy can break through Legend rank and step into the Heavenly Fate Realm. A person's Spiritual Root determines their talent in cultivating Heavenly energy.

However, [ Myriad Energy ] is a better alternative as it is essentially every form of energy at its purest state therefore if Yun Tian allowed it then she would have reached Heavenly Fate or even Heavenly Star Rank!

Fifteen days had passed since he met Yun Mei even though he changed the time they spent in [ Godly Grimoire ] to spend time getting to know each other and strengthen their relationship. Yun Tian only uses time dilution when spending time instead of cultivation as it affects the natural flow of energy inside his [ Godly Grimoire ]. She learned countless things from Yun Tian about cultivating and martial arts while Mio and Mia taught her how to be a good wife.

Yun Tian shook his head and was flying alone closer to his destination sensing a familiar presence resonating with his soul. Yun Mei appeared behind him wrapping her arms around her shoulder and said.

"Darling, I'm bored! Can I fight some demon beast?"

She was acting adorable trying to tempt Yun Tian who chuckled at her request and suppressed her cultivation to a Peak Bronze Rank considering she's already at Demigod rank with prowess to combat Heavenly Fate Rank. There are only a few individuals who reach her rank within the Divine Continent and none would be able to overwhelm her.

"Alright, Have fun. I want to see how well you've grown since I've trained you."

Yun Mei gave a wide grin and gave Yun Tian a peck on the cheek and took out a staff that was a simple weapon at the moment to test her skills and promise to forge a weapon perfect for her along with armor that matches her. She landed on the ground faced with her previous adversary roaring at her while Yun Mei simply smiled rushing towards them spinning her staff and giving a series of thrust that easily beat them.

Yun Tian was filled with pride seeing how much she had grown and hoped to see how the others would become when he helped them cultivate. Though, there isn't a need to rush things, and trust that once he gets slower with them then he'll reveal himself to them. Unlike them, Yun Mei doesn't have any attachments and a demon beast means that she is meant to fight.

The Demon beast was easily overwhelmed by her ferocity and power displaying a great mastery over their staff. Yun Mei laughed through it all and received her revenge for all the beating she endured. She didn't kill them since her hatred for them was gone and was even grateful because she won't be able to meet Yun Tian without them.

"Hahahahah I am Yun Mei, the mighty Monkey Queen! Remember that!"

She beat the leader of the Demon Beast and stood on top of its unconscious body laughing hysterically. Yun Tian descended and she quickly ran up to him.

"That was really fun!"

Seeing her beaming smile and showing the top of her head as if saying reward me Yun Tian chuckled happily and gave the monkey girl a head pat.

"You've shown great progress in your bo staff skills. But make sure to not act reckless when in a fight and know when to assess an enemy before engaging."

Hearing his words of praise and critique showed a determined nod. She didn't want him to be disappointed and wanted to keep improving herself. Though Yun Mei is having a hard time getting accustomed to human tradition does her best.

They continued their journey with Yun Mei clinging by his side until they arrived at the Ancient Orchid City Ruins. The place was utter ruins where the remaining structure was infested with vines and vegetation eroded for countless years.

Yun Tian thought about how the once great city from the Sacred Empire had grumbled and turned into dust. He showed admiration at the ancient ruin and bowed down in respect considering it was once the home of his ancestor. Yun Mei looked around while Yun Tian scanned the place where he found a stone tablet below the statue. Yun Tian brushed off the dust on the surface and, with the aid of the moonlight, he was able to clearly make out the words on it.

"This is the language of the Sacred Empire."

He muttered having studied countless records within the trial and the Library of Heaven Paths provided him with the necessary information about them. Everything that had been recorded was being stored in his Sea of Knowledge. Yun Tian has access to them doesn't mean he is able to instantly recall everything and still needs to check.

"Those who follow me, shall be honored. Those who oppose me, shall be perished. Isn't this person too arrogant?"

Yun Tian found the words to be overbearing and arrogant, so they would write down words that reflect their personality and view of themselves. He understood that a ruler shouldn't be a tyrant nor a benevolent king because if a ruler acts as a Tyrant, they run the risk of a revolution, and war, they are a ruler.

While a benevolent ruler, does everything in their power, to protect their people, but ultimately leaves them to fend for themselves, once that king dies. They led them, yes, but they failed to rule them, leaving the kingdom to ruin, as they wouldn't know what to do.

A true ruler stems from the balance between leadership, and ruling. He did not believe a ruler should oppress their people, as he should care, and teach them to be the best they can possibly be, like a father does for their children. For when the time comes for someone else to wear the crown, they'll be ready to do the same, as their king did for them. Allowing the kingdom to flourish for decades to come. Everything always has balance and too much can lead to downfall.

"Woah!!"

Yun Tian turned to find Yun Mei had fallen into a hole in a comical manner. He stopped reading and went to check where had gone to look at her massive hole that was completely dark and wouldn't be able to see Yun Mei below if it weren't for his superior eyesight. He descended to find Yun Mei waiting for him and was excited to explore the underground tunnel. He found a line of text on a stone wall by his side.

"Emperor Kong Ming's resting place,"

Yun Tian murmured and was suddenly surprised realizing what the place was.

"This is the tomb of the Sacred Empire's Emperor Kong Ming!"

He recalled from what he knew that he was the most mysterious emperor in the history of the Sacred Empire. As an emperor of the Sacred Empire, he actually used his title as his form of address, which is a very strange thing.

This particular emperor left the Sacred Empire in the middle of his rule and passed his throne to his son. It's said that he had already cultivated to a frightening extent, becoming immortalized. Even his descendants couldn't find his tomb.

Yun Mei doesn't know what it means and simply followed Yun Tian through the passage and simply walked through since the traps weren't much of a problem to them. He followed where the familiar feeling was resonating until They walked into the hall, the scene before them caused the both of them to feel deeply shocked. Bones were everywhere around this hall.

There were bones of adults as well as bones of children. They were densely stacked together. It seemed like they had a painful struggle before they died. Yun Tian's gaze filled with deep sorrow looking at the decaying bones.

'This should be the temporary refuge of the Ancient Orchid City. They seem to have moved the elderly, women, and children here. They were, probably, going to get them out after the war. However, Ancient Orchid City was destroyed, therefore, these people could only be trapped here, and starve to death.'

Yun Tian took a deep breath. At this moment, his heart fluttered, making it hard to calm down. Wasn't Glory City like this too, in the other timeline? Based on Ye Ziyun's memory before the battle began, they moved a lot of people into the refuge area.

Later, when Glory City was destroyed, they were forced to shift their location. He didn't know what happened to those elderly, women, and children, but they had probably died in the refuge from hunger as well. A quick death would have been better than a slow agonizing death of starvation clinging to hope of escape. The tragic scene of Glory City being destroyed was still so clear in his mind from the view of Ye Ziyun. Yun Tian clenched his fist tightly.

'I will not let the same thing happen again.'

Yun Tian had been preparing and helping the Glory City to prosper and improve its understanding of cultivation to accelerate the growth of every individual. He needs to prevent that dark future from ever happening.

Yun Mei was also saddened especially when she noticed her husband's expression and went to comfort her by embracing him. He calmed down and turned to Yun Mei and thanked her.

She smiled before Yun Tian continued to look around and found a few treasures and took them but not before praying giving them a proper burial would be the least he could do not wanting to sully the dead.

'May your soul rest and find a better life in your next reincarnation.'

He saw a small dress belonging to a little girl hugging what seemed to be her mother and felt his heart ache to see the sight. Yun Tian knew life is unfair and tragedy would always be present in the world. He sighed in his heart and stood up having found bronze armor and weapons. There was a Silver rank dagger that was very well preserved, undamaged. Other than that, there were also demon crystals and many other valuable things.

Yun Tian's gaze fell to the center of the hall. At the center of the hall lies a huge stone coffin that was three meters long and about one meter in height. The surface of the coffin was covered with mysterious incarnations. Those incarnations were quite familiar, but he was unable to recognize them.

'What are these incarnations?'

Yun Tian could see some incarnation that he immediately recognized thanks to the [ Library of Heaven Paths ] and realized that it was a complicated inscription containing Space-Time law within them.

Moving closer to Emperor Kong Ming's stone coffin, Yun Tian felt a mysterious force rushing toward him. It felt as if he stood beside the stone coffin like he was standing in the middle of the roaring ocean and could fly out any time. It was no wonder that those who died around here did not get close to the stone coffin. Though, he was unfazed when the roaring ocean was nothing but a single drop compared to his boundless sea.
