Culling Jian

It was a sunny day Kei was lying in a hospital bed, it had been two days since he was unconscious, he was currently getting a earful from his grandpa, something something how it was dangerous and how he should've just let the Sentinel handle the situation.

He knew it would've been fine even if he just kept running and avoiding the Aberrant Stalker he would've not ended up in the hospital or ended up with way less wounds covering his body.

Most of his body was covered in bandages, but he was not dead and the monster was, so it was a relatively good outcome.

After giving a long scolding perhaps the longest, given his eccentric nature –he left the young boy alone.

"All I'm saying is you should take better care of yourself, and not be so reckless, your parents would've been really mad at me if they were alive saying that, how could their baby get hurt like this where is his grandpa? why is he not protecting him, and stuff like that"

"Yea, sorry I got a little carried away, but the monster was weirdly fixated on me, and kept attacking me so I got a little ticked off"

"Alright kiddo, let me give you an old mans wise knowledge,.....

why do you think it lost?"

"The monster?" Kei asked

"Yes it was stronger than you, was an intelligent monster, as far as monster's go, but it's dead and your alive, what do you think the reason for that is?"

"..." Kei couldn't come up with a decent answer

His grandpa continued

" Well, first of all the creatures aren't rational, from what I heard the monster was fighting a losing battle it could've ran away easily or waited for a better opportunity, but it continued attacking you like a frenzied animal"

"Its on of the main reasons humanity has survived, these gate creatures they can be smart sometimes sure, but they give into their bloodlust easily which lets us exploit their weaknesses"

"What I'm trying to say is, don't give into your emotions in the battlefield, the monster was probably angry at you too, after you foiled its surprise attack."

"In short, harness your emotions control them, don't let it control you, and don't die"

"now give your old man a hug"

his grandpa said that and enveloped him in a tight hug

"aaah, ouch ouch ouch, stop grandpa" Kei face ached 

"Anyway, I'm glad your okay" he looked at his bandages "well okay enough"

As they were sharing the moment Chrome and Ayumi entered the hospital room.

'I understand Chrome but Ayumi also came to visit me?'

His Gramps saw the newcomers, smiled at Kei "hmm mhhh, I see. I'll take my leave then", then left giving Kei a thumbs up

Kei sighed and then shook his head

Chrome leapt in front of him with a excited expression 

"That was so cool Kei, I saw you fighting the monster, for a second I thought you would die there, but you didn't, you were like totally cool there, ah I wanted to fight too, man I'm jealous"

"Ah yes, hello Chrome I'm fine thanks for asking, anyway what happened after I got knocked out"

"Oh yea, Instructor got his hand cut off so he wouldn't be teaching us for the time being, after you got knocked out the Sentinel carried you to their healer and after that you were taken to the hospital, that's the gist of it, also apparently that monster was the Gate guardian as the gate closed after it died"

"I see"

'It seems that instructor was also alive and there were no casualties" which was quite lucky given the history of gates and creature even if it was a T2 gate it was very dangerous to get overly self-confident.

'I should thank the Sentinel, too, for saving me'

"I see you are well" Ayumi said in a neutral tone

"Ahh, Ayumi.... thanks"

"By the way how did you notice the monster before everyone else, you saved me back there"

"I have a special item gifted to me by my father which lets me sense incoming danger"

"No need to thank me, I just fulfilled my duty that's all"

'wah, an item that can let you detect incoming danger, I cant imagine how much money would that cost, damn, that bow and now this item, how come I've never gotten anything like that by my grandpa he is in Raizo's party too'

'Also now that I'm talking to her, she's quite a character herself, the way she talks is like a princess'

"Well, thanks anyway"

Chrome suddenly spoke "Hey did you get anything from killing the monster"

now that he remember he did got an item for killing the monster

He focused on the item and another interface showed

Chrome's voice snapped him back to reality, 

"huh, oh yeah, Watch this I got something good"

Kei stretched his hand and thought to summon the (Culling Jian) 

The blade materialized itself surrounded by a whirlwind of sparks, soon it was resting in the palms of Kei it was a double-edged around arms length it was made of translucent scale like material that interlocked and showed a beautiful pattern, it's pommel and guard was made from the same translucent scale like material. It's handle was wrapped in black leather and gave a vivid contrast to the ethereal blade. It was certainly a rare catch.

"Woah"

Kei's and Chrome's eyes were glued to the blade admiring its beauty even Ayumi seemed to show some interest.

As they were admiring the sword the door opened and two figures entered the room.

One was a man in silvery armor with dark hair and sharp eyes following him was a young woman with lustrous brown hair and teal eyes that were just mesmerizing, she was wearing a dark grey jumper, which gave her a tantalizing look.

It was the Sentinel, and a beautiful girl was accompanying him.

Kei was feeling like a celebrity, so many people he would never hope to talk to normally had come to visit him

'huh, maybe I should fight creatures more often' 

"Hey kid, looks like your awake" the Sentinel said in a friendly voice 

"Ah yes, Sir thank you for saving me back then" Kei bowed lightly

"Ah don't worry about that, also don't call me sir my name Donnes Wildhart" 

" Yes, sir" Kei said

"Anyway, I want to ask you something"

"Wanna, go on a hunt?"
