New mentor

Kei would've never thought he would be asked to join a hunt together with a Sentinel

Sentinels like Donnes Wildheart were always busy dealing with the gates and protecting the city, not only did he make time to visit Kei but also offer him to join him in his next hunt.

Kei felt like it was too much for him to join such a expedition,

"Thank you for your offer sir, but I'm just a mundane and haven't even reached Initiate and unlocked my ability"

"Ah, don't worry about that, I've saw you fight, if you can survive a attack from an invisible creature like that you can evade other creatures too" The Sentinel paused for a moment "probably"

'probably?' Kei thought in disbelief

"Anyway your Grandpa actually asked me to mentor you, well, I owe him so I couldn't refuse," Donnes smiled slightly " He's a real piece of work I tell you"

"You will be my apprentice from now on make, so let's get along"

Suddenly Ayumi spoke up "Mr. Donnes I would also like to join your next hunt" 

'Ayumi wants to join the hunt?'

Donnes didn't knew what to say "Um miss Huntsman, I don't think I am qualified for mentoring you, and your dad will be pissed at me if I agreed"

"I want to help my father" Ayumi said in stiffed tone

"I was made aware of my strength in the last battle, I'm far too weak to help my father and protect this city, I want to be able to stand side by side with him, to show that I can also protect him"

"Mr. Sentinel you don't have to mentor me I just bring me along to your next hunt. I'll talk to my father, if it's with an experienced hunter like you he might allow me to go"

Seeing Ayumi's unfaltering dedication Donnes had no chance but to submit to her will and bring her along,

"Ok, I'll think about it but make sure to ask your dad, I don't wanna get in trouble with him"

Hearing all this talk Chrome was staring at the Sentinel with puppy eyes, Kei could see the desperation in his eyes.

'hmmmm'

"umm sir" Kei spoke "If you don't mind can Chrome tag along too?"

Donnes saw the puppy eyes and the excitement of the young man, "Fine, why not", originally he was supposed to take only one disciple but now that number grew to three.

"Oh, I almost forgot, meet Yuna, my little sister she is also coming with us"

"Sup", Yuna said in a neutral tone and proceeded to space out

"Ah, don't worry about her she's a little shy around people, hope you become friends with her"

"Anyway, I got you an appointment with a good healer, you'll be back on your feet by tomorrow, come meet me at the Wildheart estate"

Soon after The Sentinel and his sister left, Ayumi and Chrome also left soon after a woman in casual clothing entered his room, she was the same healer he saw on the field fighting the other day, she was the healer that would patch him up.

She had done some emergency healing on the field and transported him to the hospital, but now that she had time and Donnes had paid for her services she was going to patch him up good this time.

"Lay down on your stomach" She said

"Thank you miss for treating me" Kei said in a friendly tone

Then she suddenly smirked and said "you won't be after I'm done with you"

'What does she mean by that?' Kei thought 'and how is she planning to heal me ?'

"AAAAAhhhhh"

Then a sharp pain enveloped his entire body, Kei groaned in agony as the healer placed several long sharp needles in Kei's body.

"Don't move or I'll miss" she said and placed several more needles all over his body

'nobody told me getting healed was this painful, what the hell'

Kei was discharged the next morning, thanks to the help of the healer, and now he was waiting for Chrome outside his residence, it was more of an apartment really, and Kei was standing in front of his door. 

"Oi, come out, how long are you going to make me wait" Kei shouted

"Almost done, one second" Chrome's voice came from inside

"Just wear whatever dude, it's not like your going on a date" he said that, but he was also wearing his best clothes, Ayumi was gonna be there obviously, his best clothes happened to be a black hoodie and dark blue pants.

'maybe I should buy better clothes'

Chrome finally came out he was wearing a white t-shirt, a jacket and matching pants. He was looking totally ready for a date.

They left the apartment and walked to the academy which wasn't too far from where they lived. Ayumi had contacted them and told them to wait near the Academy gates.

Soon a black luxury car, was seen coming closer it stopped near the two.

After the cataclysm natural gas was hard to come by and so many vehicles became redundant, but it was later discovered that the mana can be used as an alternative to fossil fuel so many cars were redesigned and now ran on mana, but the catch was mana was hard to come by dormant human's couldn't channel mana, and Initiates and Sentinels were busy people and having them charge the mana batteries cost a hefty penny.

Many people thought they could use the mana cores harvested from the creatures, but it proved difficult, beast mana cores were plenty but had impurities and so it malfunctioned the energy system in the machines, monster cores could be used but were more rare, not to mention people would rather use the cores to make themselves stronger as opposed to sell them.

So car was a rare sight as people mostly used public transport that some Initiates operated, nevertheless there was one in front of them.

It's door opened, and a spacious interior with black leather seats and dark wood interior came into view, the interior was more akin a limo than a regular car.

'Talk about luxury'

Ayumi was also there sitting in the corner having a reserved look on her face she was wearing a beautiful yellow dress that looked good but also allowed for unobstructed movement.

"Good morning" Ayumi said 

"ah, good morning" Kei and Chrome took a seat in the car there was considerable space to sit, so there was a visible space between them.

'this is awkward'

No one was talking as the car drove forward, it was truly an awkward ride, Ayumi kept to herself and so did the two boys.

Well the awkwardness didn't last long as soon they could see the Wildheart Estate from there windows.
