Chapter 10: A Brutal Past

“So, when you said you were young when you left Romania…” Parker said casually. Damien had stopped by her house that morning and asked her to show him around town. Originally, Parker had found their normal teenage dates fun and normalizing.

Now that she knew Damien and Lucien were vampires, she felt like it was silly to be doing something so normal.

“Age is relative, isn’t it?” Damien asked with a playful smile. Parker giggled, looping her arm through Damien’s. They were walking through downtown Ocean View. There were a few streets of stores, shops, and cafes that led down to the boardwalk, which was covered with all kinds of tourist attractions.

The boardwalk extended out into a pier that went out over the waves. There were more restaurants, shops, and a club on the pier. At the other end of the boardwalk, there was a carnival with rides and games.

“I was sixteen when I was turned into a vampire,” Damien told her.

“And how long ago was that?” she asked. Damien chuckled.
