Jylan was nervously tapping his foot on the floor of the carriage. Lei was asleep on the other side, snoring loudly. Jylan sighed as a world-record-worthy snore occurred. Meanwhile, his heart was beating so fast there was no hope of sleeping.
And then, there was a loud clank. It was sort of like the sound of nails on steel, but much, much louder. Jylan was thrown into another side of the carriage, and Lei screamed as she was jolted awake and also thrown into another side. The windows broke, and, in a minute, the dust settled and Jylan was left clutching the door. Outside, he heard someone shout, "Slave traders!"
Jylan gripped the door tighter, and Lei suddenly pulled a hood over her head and held up a peace sign.
"...Lei?" Jylan asked, watching her fasten her cloak to her shoulders. Finally, she used her high heel to break open the window and then wriggled out, but before she could disappear into the woods, a scream echoed and Lei was dragged away.
Jylan decided to make a move too. He opened the door, and, internally thanking Lei for her sacrifice, dashed out the door while the thugs were occupied with her. Dashing into the deep forest, whisking aside the dense undergrowth, he ran away as far as he could.
Within a few minutes, Jylan was lost. Finally, he heard a string of loud, boisterous curses that would have made the dead king of Sebas's kingdom move in his grave.
The curses that Prince Sebastian had shot at him all the time.
Jylan now ran out of the bushes to see a small caravan that was connected to a worn-out horse that looked to be on its deathbed and was slowly munching on grass.
Jylan peeked around - there was no one there. Finally, he tried the door.
Because of plot armor, it was open and unlocked.
He looked in, and right there, was Prince Sebastian, who looked to be sleeping. But before he could do anything, Sebastian opened his eyes, and whispered hoarsely,
"Behind… You."
Jylan turned too late to see a thug holding a large wooden board over his head. With a sickening crack, he was knocked out.
