Fighting Tier-2

At the center of the Xuzhou stronghold, a towering and majestic building dominated the entire city. This is Xuzhou city's Federation Office. At this moment, a person stood outside a room at the top floor of this building carrying a file tightly in his hands.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

"Governor, it's me" that person said after knocking on the door.

"Come in"

Hearing the voice, that person entered the room and saw a man with a silver beard and a silver hair standing beside a glass window watching Xuzhou city while having a cup of tea. He is Zhou Tian, governor of the Xuzhou city stronghold.

"I brought what you ordered me yesterday" said that person who seems to be Zhou Tian's assistant while placing that file in his hands on a huge mahogany desk in that office room.

Zhou Tian took one more sip and picked up the file on his desk.

"As of yesterday, he joined the Xuzhou military academy and attended his first class. Also, something happened concerning him in the academy," paused that assistant in the midst of the sentence. A frown appeared on Zhou Tian's face when he heard this.

"What is it?" he asked

"He got into a conflict with Miguel Rodriguez's son"

"Who won?" asked Zhou Tian, which surprised his subordinate.

"Neither. But from the perspective of staff and students, Rodriquez lost"

Instantly a faint smile emerged on Zhou Tian's face.

"Continue to observe him and also don't make it obvious" Zhou Tian ordered. That assistant gave a nod and left the room.

"Last time a Marchetti came here, this city became a bloodbath. What will happen this time now," Zhou Tian mumbled while drinking his tea again.

Meanwhile, in the Military academy, students of class 3-A gathered on the open ground behind the academy.

"Today we are having our monthly practical fighting session" Han Ye Seul announced. Instantly, the students got excited at hearing what their homeroom teacher said.

Every month, the 2nd and the 3rd year students will fight with mutated animals. So that the students will get experience and also, at the same time, stimulate their abilities. The rules are simple, fight with the mutated beast until they got exhausted.

The students are excited because this is their opportunity to gain an enlightenment and further enhance their mastery of their abilities. There are cases where some students advanced into the next tier while fighting or after fighting with a wild animal.

They are too thrilled because the students will get awarded points depending on their performance in the cage. They can exchange these points for potions and beast materials that can help them in enhancing their ability. Also, for every session, the students with top ranks will directly get rewarded with beast materials.

"What are we fighting today, Ma'am?" Uli asked loudly with excitement.

"We received a special gift from the hunter association. Our Dean wants to test the limits of 3rd years with this. You guys are really lucky to fight this thing here" Han Ye Seul said grinning and walked towards a cage that is covered with the cloth.

"Behold!" she said, while removing that cloth. A two meter tall monkey can be seen inside that cage.

Suddenly the entire ground turned silent.

"Ma'am. Isn't that a mutated heavy monkey?" one student asked, trembling. Instantly everyone realized what they are going against and the excited expression on their faces turned to dread.

"Yes. Today you are facing a Tier-2 mutated heavy monkey. Isn't it exciting" said Han Ye Seul with her eyes gleaming.

"We will definitely die today" said one student with despair.

The students would usually fight with Tier-1 beasts in the practical session, and this has always been like this since the military academy established. They will only face a Tier-2 mutated rarely even when they have to do assignments in their fourth year. But now they were told to fight one and that too in a cage. According to the rules, they can only give up the fight after exchanging at least a blow. But today, one blow from that heavy monkey can kill them instantly.

"As always, support type and normals stay aside" Ye Seul shouted. Support and Normal type abilities are not suitable for combat so they are exempt from this.

"For the first time I am feeling envy looking at them" said a guy with defense type ability looking at the students who are going to the back of the group. The attack and defense type ability students always look down on support type and normals because they can't fight but today they are feeling distressed for not having a non-fighting ability.

"Who wants to go first?" Han Ye Seul asked, but as expected, there is no response.

"I know you guys are afraid, but don't worry, if anything goes wrong, I will interfere. Also, we specifically arranged a Tier-3 healer. So stop being a pussy and fight"

At the beginning Lieutenant Han spoke gently, unlike her character, but in the end her usual self appeared berating them.

Cadet Edwards entered the cage and took a glance at the heavy monkey, which bared its teeth. Heavy monkeys are known for their biting force and thick skin. They can bite a metal rod like a piece of chocolate. Suddenly that heavy monkey plunged towards Edwards with its mouth wide open.

Edwards quickly raised his hand and released [Fire shot], a skill of the Fire manipulation ability where small bursts of fire were released from the palms. Skills are the manifestations of one's ability. A skill will depend on the person's control on their ability. If a person has more control, they have more skills and are more powerful.

Though Edwards Fire shot hit the heavy monkey, its thick skin protected it from suffering any damage, but his fire shot stopped the incoming attack of the heavy monkey. Edwards gained some confidence and continuously released fire shots at the mutated animal before him, but unfortunately it didn't work and by the time Edwards released another fire shot, that heavy monkey's mouth is already before his head.

Just before that heavy monkey crushed Edwards' head, a water curtain appeared between Edwards and the heavy monkey, forming a protective layer around Edwards. Edwards, who closed his eyes with fear, opened them and saw a layer of water surrounding him. He instantly understood what happened and looked towards Lieutenant Han, because it her ability, Water Manipulation. A group of soldiers quickly restrained that mutated animal and helped Edwards, bringing him out of the cage.

"Edwards, 5 points" shouted Han Ye Seul without even looking at Edwards.

"Next" she shouted

Just like that, students went one by one into the cage. Landed one or two strikes on that mutated heavy monkey and got rescued by Han Ye Seul. With in half an hour, fifteen students went in and came out. Out of those fifteen, only five members got over twenty points and all the five are defense type ability users.

This time it is Uli entered the cage. He is shortest in the entire 3rd year. So he is also known as Chibi Uli, which translates to Short Uli from Japanese. But no one dares to call that before him because he is one of the strongest defense type ability users.

"Cadet Uli Schmidt, Defense type, Tier- 2, Unnatural Durability" he roared and went into the cage. He is the only one that entered the cage with confidence.

After experiencing blow from the previous students, that heavy monkey got agitated and immediately jumped at Uli. It went for Uli's right hand rather than the head, like it did for others, and bitten it. But to its dismay, how much ever hard it tried to bite. It couldn't even pierce through Uli's skin.

"Idiot," said Uli and punched at the heavy monkey with his left hand, instantly sending that monkey flying away, crashing onto the cage walls. That monkey recovered from his daze and pounced back at Uli. He again sent it crashing into the cage wall. After five minutes Uli got exhausted and gave up the fight.

"Uli, 90 points" Lieutenant Han roared.

"Next"

"Cadet Dante. Tier-1, abnormal type" said Dante. There is neither excitement nor fear on his face. Everyone came forward to see Dante's fight. They are curious about the abnormals they always read in books about. Even Ye Seul and other soldiers also got interested.

After Dante entered the cage, a soldier went near the cage to close the gate and while he is putting the lock, he felt the cage shook violently.

He thought little about it and locked the cage. He lifted his head to see the fight, but he could only see Dante in the cage. Perplexed, he took a few steps back and instantly his eyes went wide open, whereas his jaw dropped when he looked inside the cage.

That 2 meters tall, Tier-2 mutated heavy monkey is laying flat on the cage with its head missing.
