We were comfortably settled at Dee's, with the usual hustle and bustle of the shop. No wonder I always came up with creative ideas here.
Can you imagine sitting in a cafe, and having your nose enjoy the pleasure of the aroma of coffee, hot chocolate, and every heart-melting pastry you can possibly think about?!!
It would be a crime to not succumb to the delicious goodness of every single thing here.
But, so far so good, we had not ordered anything yet. We just sat down at a booth, waiting to be attended to by a waiter or waitress.
"Corianne is at our front door," Aurum informed me, looking up from her phone. Which I assumed she had been using to text Cory.
"Tell her we're at Dee's."
I bet she had already barged into the house, to realize it was empty {Yeah, she has a spare key}. Trust me when I say that she is most definitely never afraid of using it. If anything, she wields too much power just by having a spare key.
"She's on her way here", Aurum told me later, having communicated with Corianne.
After a few minutes of sitting, we were able to beckon a waiter.
"Hi," A curtsy male waiter dressed in their branded T-shirt, stretch twill pants, and an apron walked over. "What can I get for you?"He asked, pulling out his pocket-sized notepad. A pen was already on the other hand which was his work gear.
"Aurum," I cocked my head at my sister whose entire attention was occupied with her laptop, "Do you want anything?"
She responded absent-mindedly, "A cup of coffee would be fine."
Pfft, Aurum loves her coffee. That isn't surprising any bit. Plus, she comes to Dee's very often so, her order is well known. Unlike me who has refused to show my face here since the incident. I can come around, but only rarely. Never alone if I can help it.
His eyes peered at me eagerly, "How about you?"
"Hmmm," My brows knitted as my eyes glanced at their menu, "What's the sweetest thing you have available?" I don't just want any regular sweet thing. I want something with 99% sugar, capable of making me lose my teeth instantaneously.
"Red Velvet ice cream with chocolate and red sprinkles. Topped with whipped cream, chocolate syrup drizzle, and a cheesecake."
"I'll have that." A wide grin spread across my face in expectance, "And maybe a cup of coffee."
Don't judge me, the coffee is for Corianne.
"Okay so, two cups of coffee, and the sweetest thing available." He jotted it down before excusing himself, "Give me a second."
Even though he was already out of earshot I still said, "No problem."
Aurum seemed like she was genuinely more interested in whatever was on her screen. So I took my time to study the interior of the place. Still, the same as I remembered, with the workers trying to get through their work. The waiter from earlier was also in the midst of the hassle.
The only missing face was his...
You won't know the person I was thinking about because my sister's scoff snapped me out of my thoughts.
As if her scoff was not enough, she was also equipped with a disdainful scowl, "Stop looking around, he is not here." Something flashed in her eyes that I couldn't possibly put my finger on, "Tell your heart to stop beating too fast at the possibility of his presence."
I didn't bother focusing on what might or might not have been flashing in her eyes.
Instead, I mirrored her scowl before arching my brows to ask, "Possibility of his presence?" My eyes brows arched even higher, "Really?"
"You look too pale.", She simply smirked at me, completely unfazed.
"Shut up."
"Shutting up."
She held up her hands, proving to have surrendered. But a chuckle still managed to slip past her mouth.
We sat in silence after that, and I chose to believe that was because Aurum was afraid of me putting a zipper on her mouth.
Luckily for both of us, she didn't need one because Corianne strode in, walking to our booth to make her presence known.
She had a brighter smile than I expected to see when talking to us, "Hey Chicas!!!"
By pushing me to the end of the table, she was able to get a seat at our table. Which left me to wonder why she didn't ask me to shift.
I tried to be normal by dipping my head in greeting to say, "Sup"
"You got here too quickly." Bless Aurum and her normalities for she raked her eyes over Cory, absolutely uninterested.
"I have a car remember?"
Corianne dangled her car keys in front of Aurum's face which the latter swatted away. It landed on the table making Cory narrow her eyes.
"The smell would never make me forget."
How Aurum spoke with a poker face dazzles me because I almost choked on my laughter just by listening.
In between my cackles, I managed to add, "Ouch."
Cory darted her eyes at me but looked back at Aurum who said, "Please tell me you've taken it to the car wash."
Trust me guys, I really did try. But I just couldn't let the conversation pass me by without chilling in, "Funny enough, Jacob's car smells really good. Like you're on the track to living a good life."
Which wasn't a lie!!! Seeing as he was my personal chauffeur I was well acquainted with his car scent.
"Girl, that's a huge flex." Aurum being dramatic was making it sound worse, even fist-pumping with me.
She's my sister and I'm equally as dramatic so I took the fist pump, also winking at Corianne.
"I know right?" Corianne who refused to comment was forced to talk when I asked, "Cory, did a skunk get into your car?"
Anything, any response at all would have been way better than Corianne nodding, "Yes, it actually did."
That was the beginning of the loudest hollering of Aurum that she has ever hollered before.
Hey guys!!
Hello there.
Sigh, forgive me for my break. I had the biggest writing slump ever. But thank you to that person that reached out to me and the people that left their comments and thoughts regardless.
I love y'all.
