“Why? Is something wrong?”

She stood back and motioned me into the bedroom.

I looked in the mirror. Who was that?

I turned back to the door. Car, Mimi, and Joyce were all watching me.

“That’s not me,” I told them.

“No,” Mimi smiled. “It’s an impostor. We’ll have to call the police. Now, I think you’ll love the shoes,” she continued. “The heel is only two inches high. The ones you’ll wear tomorrow are three and a half.

“Good God!” I sighed.

Joyce looked at her watch. “It’s eight-forty. Shouldn’t your escort be here?”

As if on cue, there was a knock on the door. Joyce went to answer it. Wilson and Ryan were there.

“Are our dates ready?” I heard Ryan ask.

“I just have to put on my shoes,” I said as I walked out of the bedroom.

“Chris!” Wilson exclaimed. “God, you are spectacular.”

“You don’t look so bad yourself.”

He had on perfectly pressed jeans, a silk looking jacket, and a collarless shirt.

I turned to Mimi. “Why couldn’t I have worn casual like that?”
