“Yes,” he said. “You two look good together. This is going to work. Okay, it’ll take another hour to get the lights and everything set up. Take that time to practice your duet together. I’ll give you a call when I’m ready to start blocking this baby.”

I nodded.

Jay said, “Okay.”

When Joel walked away, I turned to Jay.

“Have you done ads before?” I asked.

“Yes, I did a couple Washington State Apple ads last year. You?”

“This is my first,” I admitted. “I usually play with the Wind Star String Quartet. This my first job without them.”

We stopped at a small Ford that was a few years old.

“Let me get my guitar.” He reached into the trunk and withdrew a beautiful Gibson Acoustic from its case.

“I’ll get my cello.”

“We can practice over there by the picnic bench.” He pointed to a shadowed spot about fifty yards from where we’d parked. “It looks far enough away.”
