“Are you feeling alright?” Jane asked.

“I think my stomach’s a little nervous. Cellists don’t usually have to talk.”

“You should lie down for a little while. There’s a couch in the make-up room.”

I nodded.

When I turned, Tim was there.

“Are you okay?” he asked.

“My stomach is a little nervous,” I repeated.

“That’s understandable. It’ll get easier. Anything else wrong?”

“I get bad vibes from Joel. He hasn’t done anything wrong, but he gets a little closer than necessary. I almost swatted his hand when he was positioning me.”

“All right,” said Tim. “I’ll keep an eye out. Just don’t worry about it. Okay?”

“Thanks, Tim.”

Then I looked for Mimi.

“Will I need to be in this shirt again today?” I asked.

“No. We’re done with the tux. We have the corset and a few other items for you.”

“Okay, I’m going to lie down for a few minutes.”

“I’ll make sure no one disturbs you. I’ll wake you when you need to get dressed.”
