Earl drove speedily to the hospital. His gut clenched with the thought that Amber would do something bad to herself before he could reach her. Her reassurance that she would wait for him was not enough to ease him. What he knew was that Amber was mentally unfit. If he was late, she would jump down.

He wished he had wings so he could fly over to her. Even though he was driving speedily, it took him several minutes to get to the hospital. When he drove in through the gate, he noticed a group of people gathering a little away from the parking area. Some ward boys were running in and out. It appeared that a critically ill patient had just arrived.

But his heart shook in trepidation as he sensed something unusual. 

"What are they doing there?" He rushed over there after parking his car.

As he got closer to the group, his steps slowed.

"Poor woman. Her life ended just like this."
