When love hurts

Jasmine's pov

"Wake up, sleeping beauty," Liam's voice echoed through my sleep. I opened my eyes slowly, surprised by the sight in front of me.

"What's this?" I asked, my voice groggy with sleep.

"I brought you breakfast in bed," Liam said with a smile on his handsome face.

I looked at the food then back at him.

"Liam, is there something you are not telling me?" I asked feeling uneasy about his strange behavior.

"I told you i want to amend things between us. Just consider this my way of trying," he replied and i smiled.

"I hope things don't change because i love the new you," i said with a chuckle and he smirked.

"I will be a caring husband and a loving partner," he promised and my mouth curved into a smile.

I stared at his outfit, he wore a pink shirt and black pants. He looked hot and given off a bad boy vibe despite being dressed cooperately.

"You are heading to the office?" I questioned and he nodded. "I have a lot to do at the office," he said.

"I don't want to be alone. I don't feel safe to be alone," I complained and he sighed.

"You can go to Alex's house and stay there. I will get you someone to watch you before the end of the day," he suggested and i nodded in agreement.

"Alright, take care of yourself. I will see you later," he kissed my forehead and left.

I smiled till my cheeks hurt. I just hope Liam won't change to the way he was. I ate the delicious breakfast he prepared for me.

After cleaning up, i went back into the room and found a phone on the drawer. It was Liam's phone with a lot of missed calls from an unsaved number.

The person called again and I answered. "Hello," i said, picking up the call. "Liam, i..." a female voice said before ending the call.

I became troubled as i wondered who the caller was. She ended the call when she heard my voice. Does he have someone else aside from Rachel?

I went to the shower after that i wore a crop hoodie and jorgers. I drove straight to my brother's house.

"Babe, we need more time. I want them to be together before my revenge," I heard a female voice when i walked into the house quietly.

"I don't want you to do this," my brother said, my eyebrow rose curiously. The person talking wasn't Samantha.

"You are just jealous, babe. I promise nothing will happen between him and i," she said.

My ears were against the door as i listened to their conversation. I was sure the person talking was Alex's mistress.

"I love you so much," he said and i rolled my eyes at the sound of their lips. I waited for the perfect time to open the door.

"Hello! Alex! Babe, am here!" Samantha yelled as she entered into the house.

"Stop yelling, there's someone with him," I whispered to her, and she covered her mouth.

We both stood at the door, waiting for Alex and his mistress to come out. He opened the door after few minutes and leaned on it.

"What are you two doing here?" He asked and i rolled my eyes at him.

"Who is in there with you?" I asked him and, his eyes widened but he quickly composed himself.

"No one is in there," he replied in a shaky voice, i knew he was lying. I looked at Sam and she had tears in her eyes already.

"You are cheating on me, Alex," she muttered, and he scoffed. "Did you see me with any woman?" He snapped at her.

"Stop talking to her like she's a child!"I yelled at him, feeling my anger rise. "It's none of your business!" He yelled back.

"It's my business, Alex. You know how i struggle with Liam. You know how i try so hard to make him love me yet you treat another woman the same way" I said, feeling disappointed.

His face was laced with anger and guilt. "Samantha, I don't want this relationship anymore," Alex muttered with no emotion on his face.

My eyes widened in shock at his statement. Sam broke down into tears as she walked closer to him.

"I thought you loved me, why did you choose to betray me this way?" She asked admist tears.

My chest tightened in pain and pity for Sam. "I never loved you, everything was just a game. Have a good life," he replied, and went inside the room.

I couldn't believe what he just said. She was a game to him. I tried to open the door, but it was locked.

"You will regret doing this to her. I hate you, Alex!" I yelled loudly so that he could hear me.

Samantha was on the floor, crying so hard. She was hurt and i felt her pain. I helped her get up, and she hugged me tightly.

"Everything will be okay. I'm so sorry," I consoled her, and she didn't say a word. "Let's leave this place," I said.

I drove her to a cafe after we left Alex's house. I ordered for two cups of coffee and two sandwiches.

There were only few people at the cafe, most of them reading or working on a laptop.

"How do you feel?" i asked Sam, and she sighed. "I feel like i have been hit with tons of bricks," she replied, and i held her hand to comfort her.

"I'm sorry my brother is a jerk," I apologized, and she waved it off with a bitter laugh.

"I'm the stupid one, i thought i could make him fall in love with me. I ignored all the signs of him cheating on me. He called me a game, Jasmine," she ranted, pouring out her pain.

My heart ached at her words. I was going to confront Alex when I see him again.

"Once again, I'm sorry. You don't deserve this but trust me, you will find someone worthy of your love," I assured her.

"I will get my revenge on Alex and his mistress," she said to herself, but i heard it and shivered at the thought.

As we sat there, i couldn't help but think about Liam and the mysterious female caller. Who was she? And what did she want with Liam?

I pushed the thoughts aside and focused on comforting Sam. She needed me now than ever.
