Liam's pov

"Jasmine, calm down and explain to me. What happened in the restroom?" I asked her as we got inside the house.

"A man with a mask just came in and said he will get a revenge on you. He pointed a gun on my thigh, Liam. He said he is coming for me first," she explained in a shaky voice.

I pulled her closer and feeling a pang of guilt as I watched her cry on my chest.

"I'm so sorry. I will protect you, Jasmine. Nothing will happen to you," I whispered trying to assure her.

"Why did he want a revenge on you? What did you do to him? What business do you have with someone with a gun," she asked me multiple questions as she looked up to me.

"You can't understand, Jasmine," I replied and she hit me on my chest.

"Talk to me, Liam. I could have died! He could have killed me!" She yelled at me angrily.

"No one will get killed. I will sort things out," I said softly and she shook her head.

"Just open up to me, Liam! Tell me what the damn problem is!!" She demanded.

I couldn't look into her eyes. My eyes were focused on the floor. I couldn't bring myself to tell her that I used to be in the mafia.

How was I going to face the woman who loved me so much and tell her I was the one who killed her father?

"Let's discuss this later, you have to take some rest," I said, shifting the topic.

"I want to talk about this now. Just tell me please, I won't judge you," she pleaded. I shook my head and kissed her forehead.

"I will go run your bath," I said and left for my room upstairs.

After running her bath, I sat on my bed with my phone in my hand. I was terrified, realizing the same person who threatened me had also threatened Jasmine.

The only person who knew I had a hand in Jasmine's father's death was Rachel's dad who was no more.

The threats were becoming too much and I needed to do something about it. My phone beeped and I frowned as I read the message from an unknown number.

The message read 'i know you killed your best friend's father. I was shocked beyond words. My jaw dropped and my heart raced.

Someone was playing dirty games with me. I felt unsafe in my own home.

Jasmine walked into my room with a tired face. "Please come here," I said and she obeyed.

"Promise me something," I requested and she looked at me as if I was crazy.

"Please, don't tell your brother about this," I muttered, she raised a curious brow.

"I should not tell my brother that I was threatened with a gun?" She asked and I nodded.

"He doesn't have to know, Jasmine. I can handle this situation myself," I assured her.

"I don't trust you anymore. You are just driving me crazy. Why can't you just tell me? How hard is it?" She said with a frown.

"I will tell you when the time comes. Just don't tell Alex and I will provide you with a bodyguard to protect you anytime you are going out of these house," I said.

"Okay," she shrugged after taking in a deep breath. I watched her walk into the bathroom.

I knew my relationship with her would cause a lot of pain. I was starting to like her but when I think about all I have done to her, I step back.

"I have to go out now. I will see you later!" I yelled loudly for Jasmine to hear as I grabbed my keys.

"Okay, stay safe," she replied. I walked downstairs quickly.

My driver stretched his hands to collect the car key from me when he saw me.

"I will be going alone," I informed him and he nodded. I entered into the car, I drove down to a former friend of mine house.

"Liam west, what do I owe to deserve this visit?" John asked with a cocky grin on his face as I steeped out of my car in his compound.

We both used to work for Rachel's father but we were never in good terms. He was the only one who came into my mind.

"Why are you threatening me and my wife?" I demanded, he chuckled.

"Why would I be threatening you and your wife? I have no business with you Liam," he said.

"I don't believe you. You are the only one that knows I used to be in the mafia," I pointed out.

"I do not care about you so go find the person who has been threatening you in another place," he advised.

The look on his face showed how serious he was. I felt helpless and out of options. I took a step towards my car, John's voice stopped me when I was about to enter.

"What did the person say?" He asked. "Just threats about mafia and the crimes we committed," I replied.

"It's not a serious threat, Liam. The person is probably playing games with you so put your mind at rest," he advised and I nodded.

I drove out of his compound back to my office. The workers has closed for the day, I was the only one there.

I logged into my laptop and tried to hack the number that sent me the message. All my efforts proved abortive. I tried to get the location as well but I didn't get a signal.

I drew in deep breaths and wiped sweats from my forehead. The situation was getting worse by the day and I was terrified for what was coming next.

My phone rang and I answered the phone without looking at the screen.

"Hey love, where are you?" I heard Rachel's voice.

"I'm at the office, Rachel. Why are you doing this to us? You left me without a proper explanation. I need to see you," I said.

"I'm here, love. We will see tomorrow," she giggled before ending the call.

I slammed my phone on the table feeling frustrated.
