Chapter 14- Help from a Guest

It was a small village at the plain near to a river. There could see group of people training martial arts on the plain orderly. One man sat on a rock while watching the training of this group. At that time a women came near to man while carrying a crying small boy. "Brother Vasambha , our son misses you." The women said and handover that child to this man. "OH! My little thissa misses me. Here come to father. See how these uncles are training "the man said to the child while taking the child into his hands. Yes, this person was none other than the mysterious leader of the gangster group that roamed in Ruhuna and also Vasambha who started to make preparations for  rebel. After deciding what to do he decided to live in the village that rash patient lived. By living in there he got identified talented people and started to help common people with help of them. They started to help common people by giving hands to their farm works, repairing and making Amuna and Wewa, helping to make houses and likewise common work. After doing that his team got a lot of appreciation from not only this village and also nearby villages and due to that, the number of people who join this team increased.

When this group was expanding he decided to fight against the injustice common people faced. He fought against robbers who steal from villagers and tried to reform them into people who follows him while eliminating them. As well as he punished people who grab food and money from common people injustice and also stole money from them to give it to people who suffered. With those heroic works his and his popularity rose rapidly. Common people sought his team to tell their grievances and they tried to help those people as much as possible. So village after village and county to county his influence grew day by day and common people appreciated his team. Also, they helped his team when they place threats. When authorities came to apprehend them common people gave the news to them first and gave shelter to his team. As well as some of them decided to join his group too.

All time he decided to keep his identity secret for time being. He decided to appear less in public and shared tasks with his subordinates. During that time he kept his team orderly manner and the team had a good impression on him. So, doing tasks without him became easy. At that time, he spent his time with his pregnant lover as normal villager. When his influence and team grew, he decided to work against injustices done by government officials to the common people. By that he directly placed his law and order in those places and expanded his power influence more and more while consolidating his power in each place he started to control. As time goes child in Poththa's womb grew and was given a boy to him without any trouble. After seeing his child, he decided to name the child "Thissa ". What so special was this child was had hawk type nose but he not thought it as ugliness and he treated both mother and child even more than before.

"Brother Vasambha, how is work going?" Poththa asked secretly.

"Poththa, the team is training well. After a month or two they will be under the same standards as the royal army. But the problem is how to supply this team for a long time? Still, the situation is good. But I don't know how to work in future"

"What that meaning?"

 "Currently our team get their supplies from doing work in paddy fields or helping nearby villages. Also, we get money or food rations from villagers when we steal money and food from riches and share them with villagers. But our team grow quickly. Also, we should have better weapons. But till we are only using weapons that villagers provide. If we want to fight against royal armies, we want good and more weapons. So, this trend can't carry a long time."

"So we have to find some help"

"Yes. That is the thing I am worried about. We have to find some people who have money and power.  But the problem is these local lords may not accept our conditions."

"So what we do now?" Poththa asked worryingly. At that time one person came and said "Chief, there is a merchant who wants to meet you "

"Why does he wants to meet me.?" Vasambha asked.

"He wants to help our group. He likes to give money, food and weapons to us"

"So, what is there need of me? You can also solve it"

"But he insisted to meet you. Without meeting you he is not giving any aid to us. "the man said. After hearing that Vasambha frowned and asked other men to send that merchant to their meeting place while clearing all weapons in that party. After hearing the order man left while nodding to the order. Sometime after Vasambha went to that meeting place while changing his appearance to a carpenter.

It was a dark cave which was illuminated by one or two lamps. Middle of cave there was two men blindfolded by piece of clothes. After seeing this Vasambha asked "I am the leader of this group. Why are want to meet me?"

"Lord, we are doing business. In business there should be trust in each party. So we want to meet you personally to do business." One of blindfolded man told to Vasambha. "So, what are the business you want to talk?"

"Lord, we are a group of merchants who do business in Godawaya port. We like to help your group financially and basic needs. Also we can provide resources for make weapons. In return we expect you lord will reduce half of tax amount from us after you fulfill you dream."

"How could you tell I have high ambition?"

"Lord, I am a small person. But I can see martial art level of your group grow day by day. And also become very organized one. So if you had not high hope there is no need for make your team like this"

After hearing this Vasambha ordered his group to remove blindfold of the people. His team removed blindfold of these two men and Vasambha looked them carefully.

After seeing other he found an acquaintance.

Wewa – This was main water reserve system in Sri Lanka.Crossing water flows and collect water in this way.

Port Godavaya – Ancient port in southern Sri Lanka. It was placed at the bay Walawe river flowed to sea ancient time. At time it was worked as an international port and was popular in worldwide.

Amuna – One of technique that used by ancient Sri Lanka to reserve water. Find some suitable place and make buffer on small water flows and collect water in there .After that sent it paddy fields.
