Oh. So that was what Kreznik meant when he said he couldn't lose any more family. How horrible. 

A thought occurred to Lavender a moment later. He used the past tense regarding both Nick and his planet/people. So he WAS dead. But how would Kreznik know that if he hadn't been the one to kill him?

"I'm so sorry," Lavender murmured. "And I know this is a horrible follow-up question but…did you kill Nick?"

Kreznik sighed and looked at the ground as he rubbed the back of his neck. "Yes but it was an accident. I sort of hit him with my ship when I crashed. K'rllians are slightly psychic so I was able to figure out some basic information about him and this planet before he died, which is the only reason I was able to act human at all."

Ah. That made a lot of sense. But what had Nick been doing out in the woods that late in the first place? She supposed she would never find out.
