90 Days Second Life

Tori Eithern, at the age of 19, she woke up finding her physical body lying on the bed breathless. A reaper appeared out of nowhere reviving her but only for 90 days?! The only thing the reaper told her was "Entertain me." Lamentating on the days she had left left her in dilemma, yet as time passed she discovered something beyond her imagination. Fate is crueler than she thinks. Entertaining a mere reaper would have been much easier.

Chapter 1: Revival

"Name: Tori Eithern

 Age: 19

 Gender: Female

Date of birth: Wednesday, 8th November 2000

Time of death: Saturday, 29th February 2020

Cause of death: heart failure when sleeping, a sudden death. No pain, no wounds."

"Quite a cliché death you have there." The tall man dressed in black with a lowered black hood that was big enough to hid his face said as he closed his slightly tattered black old hard cover book. If this were a world with magic then this guy might be a wizard.

"indeed, who would have thought that I would die like this at the age of 19. It's too funny that I can't even laugh at myself."

"you're a strange soul."

"you're stranger than me. The way you referred me is even weirder. You referred me as "soul". It is as if you were not a human. I can understand if they can't see me now since I'm a ghost now but how come no one is able to see you? Are you not human? A ghost or maybe God? But you are dressed all black. You must be unlucky deity that brought me to death." Tori said as she spun around. She was a ghost so she could walk pass through people and walls. Her body was somewhat transparent now.

What Tori said really ticked the man in black whom no one could see even though there were many people at her funeral. There were many pairs of eyes but none could see him which made Tori bombarded him with questions and insults.

"You, goddamned soul, I was pitying you here and you dared to insult me. For your information, I'm not a deity nor a ghost. I could just bring you to the deepest hell if I want, you heard that, shorty?" the man with hood scoffed with clearly annoyed tone.

"What did you say?! shorty?! Do you have no manner? How dare you address a lady like that! I should say that I shouldn't expect a creepy emo oldie like you to have any manner. Ah, how stupid of me. Of course, you have no manner since you aren't even human." Tori said sarcastically as she turned to that man, rolled her eyes and lifted her hands next to her shoulders with open palm saying the guy in front of her was a hopeless guy. She hated it when someone called her shorty even though she was not that short. That man was just too tall.

In that moment, Tori suddenly felt chill running down her spine. The atmosphere around the man suddenly changed. He was so intimidating. Tori could feel his murderous aura. She decided to keep her mouth shut at that moment and realized this guy was a bad issue to mess with.

"So, you know when to shut up huh? Quite smart for someone who looked dumb."

This time Tori didn't bark back. She just kept quiet. She could feel that the intimidating aura was gone but she just decided to ignore him.

"Ignoring me? You sure got guts. I've been bored lately. Shorty, you'll be entertaining me."

Tori frowned at his remark. "entertain you? I rather go to hell."

Unexpectedly, Tori's answer brought an amused smile to his lips which sent another chill down her spine as she watched it.

"I like your guts. I'll give you second life. You will live for another 90 days. After 90 days you will die again and it will be an actual dead," he smirked then he opened his old black book. The papers within it started to glow and flip on its own then gust of wind suddenly enveloped Tori, causing her to close her eyes.

As Tori opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was ceiling of the church that she could see if she lied on her coffin. She glanced around and saw the flowers surrounding her body. She realized that she was back to her body and no longer a ghost. Her body was solid and not transparent.

She immediately sat up after realizing it and caused surrounding people who came to see her screamed in fear because the dead body which was lying in the coffin sat up and turned its head looking at them especially the plump girl who was standing next to the coffin. She fell backward and shivered. Her face complexion became pale as if she saw a ghost and not long after that she fainted, lying on the floor.

"you scared the hell out of her."

Tori immediately turned her head and frowned at the sight of the black clothed hooded man standing behind her with amused laugh. He couldn't stop laughing at the view of humans scared to dead by seeing Tori coming back to life. It was a huge uproar.

"You made a grand entrance after coming back to life, shorty. An advice for you, don't talk to me. You know that no one can see me."

Right after that man said that a priest suddenly came and seemed as shocked as the others. He then began to read his bible, hold his cross towards me and keep praying in fear. Of course, it didn't work because Tori was a human. Starting to feel annoyed, Tori raised her voice.

"I'm still alive so don't exorcise me like I'm some evil spirits!"

Everyone jumped in surprise, even the priest. The priest stopped chanting his bible but he was still clearly on his guard as he slowly approached Tori, still holding his cross towards her.

"I'm not a ghost or evil spirit so please stop holding the cross and look at me like that."

"Miss Eithern?"

"Yes, I'm Tori Eithern. A human, not a ghost nor an evil spirit, nor a zombie."

The priest asked several questions to confirm her identity. What could you expect from the uproar of someone coming back to life? She was escorted to hospital, had a doctor to check on her, underwent full checkup. They even checked her pulse and heartbeat twice to make sure she was really alive. The only conclusion they could come up with was Tori went through "apparent death" just like Juliet of Romeo and Juliet, but she didn't drink any potion. Such thing couldn't possibly be found in the 21st century. It was basically fictional stuff.

Those examinations were too much of a pain but Tori underwent them obediently since she didn't want to be labelled as zombie or spirit, etc. The black hooded guy wasn't around even though he was the one responsible for bringing her to life. He disappeared the moment Tori was dragged to hospital. Tori's opinion on him became worse than before. Now she labelled him as irresponsible scumbag, the worst guy she ever met.

What do you think of their dynamic?
