Chapter 58: Devil Child

Perseus POV

"Wait, aren't you supposed to be in the academy?" Brooke, Lia's dad, asked.

"She called earlier, he apparently helped in a quest and prevented a destruction of a floor." Struan responded "And now he's here probably to have fun and mess with us."

If she had told them about my true rank, they wouldn't be so nonchalant about me being in their home after they got off from work. She kept it a secret after all, I half expect her to tell these guys, well Marella knows about it at the very least, kinda creepy that she sort of stalked us.

I mean, she literally sort of foresaw the scene of me kissing her daughter and to make such an accurate paint, I can't imagine the times that she would revisit the scene just to capture it fully.

I then made my reports to them, but I barely had time. I also spend a lot of time off screen where you readers cannot see or read to investigate around the academy to find any links to the Mirage legion, but so far none.

I even use my sources to call for a list of members here, but I was told that the list will be revealed to me at the meeting.

I just join them for dinner and they invited me to stay for the night since I no longer have any rent for my old home here.

"So clan war...will my sister be in danger?" Struan asked

"Even if she had to participate, don't forget who you're talking to." I pointed at myself "I already killed their only ranked member, they only got 1 named left and just filled with rich raiders whose abilities are mostly backed up by expensive treasures, she'll be fine."

"And will I have to call you brother in law soon?"

I can now sense the glare of her over protective father, he definitely saw that painting and should have been waiting to confront me face to face about it.

"It's only a kiss, I kissed her twice, went on a date once, took her to the red light district and that's about it."

Even Marella chocked on her food when I mentioned the last phrase while now Struan join his father in giving me the death glare.

I then told them about Alice which calmed them down a bit, they were ready to throw down despite the fact that they will lose.

"Well what do you plan on doing tomorrow if the academy is having days off till the hunting floor is fixed?" Brooke asked to change the subject

"I'll be visiting those guys for tomorrow and make my return to the academy after that."

"I gotten a call from them a few days actually, they've been looking forward to a visit from you."

I woke up in the morning to see...Lia looking down on me. This is the first time that I've seen her in her own home which is weird considering that I've been here a lot, never slept here though.

"When did you get here?"

"An hour ago, the warping station caused cheaper than usual and the directors allow raiders to go home for a bit." she answered "So why are you sprawl on our living room's couch?"

"I was sleeping here? It was either here or your bedroom."

"Fair." she nodded "By the way, my dad said that I should go with you today, apparently I would love it."

"...Alright, what time is it?"

"8:45."

"AM or PM?"

"AM, doofus." she rolled her eye

"All right, I'll sleep till lunch time then."

She didn't argue and let me sleep.

I showered and cleaned up, I wore a grey hoodie, black joggers and black trainers for my place of visit today, got put a bandana on and the hood on to hide my hair and prevent me from standing out.

I also wore glasses just because sunglasses will attract attention of someone.

"Where are we heading?" Lia asked

"You'll see. First, we'll go to the supermarket for a bit, I don't think I have fruits or acceptable snacks for em."

Cordelia POV

I'll be honest, I'm so confused at what we're doing. Perseus is now buying groceries?

My dad said following him today would open my eye on the type of guy he truly is beneath his arrogant and confident façade and I should just help him and accompany him since it'll also benefit me, especially if I want to learn more about him.

We are currently filling 2 carts up with variety of fruits, meats, some cleaning agents, toiletries, and lots of snacks.

"No bag necessary, I'll just put them in my spatial storage." he told the cashier

After we were done, we walked out of there sort of empty handed. We walked for a long while more and he didn't really say anything until a kid who seems to recognize him approached us.

His face should be all over by now, especially in the human world where he is technically from, so I don't think his disguise will hold up long, especially in front of kids, they admire strong raiders the most.

"Ah devil child." he exclaimed once the kid comes up to him and hugged him

He then waved sweets at the kid while making some whistling and clicking sounds as if the kid is some sort of dog.

"Here's some candy, shoo." he then threw it

"Big bro, you realize that I'm a wolf of the beast folk, right? I'm a carnivore, I don't eat sweets." the kid said

"You shouldn't treat kids like that even if you're bad with them, you know. That should be common sense, how would you feel if your parents did the same?"

He then just turned to me and raise an eyebrow. Right, he was thrown into the pit where his only guardian was his older sister who's older by 8 years and are force to feed off of monster carcasses.

"Big bro, the other's are waiting for you." The kid said as he pulled on his arm

"I know, but please stop touching me."

"You know him?"

"The devil child? Yes." he nodded

As the child lead us, even with a lot of protest, Perseus never tried to forcefully removed his hand from the kid even though he's very uncomfortable...it's kind of cute.
