Wrapped in the embrace of his servant, Kevin didn't feel any coldness or danger, but the emotions of Rum, caused Kevin to worry.
[Servant's vision] Kevin muttered to himself as his sight instantly changed into that of a blue ocean.
It was an unfamiliar sensation.
Kevin could still feel his own body encased in the Rum's fur, but the sight was completely different as if his soul had been transported into that of the servant.
'That makes me pretty vulnerable,' Kevin thought before rolling his eyes to the side. Although he couldn't control Rum's body, the range of sight was more than enough to survey the entire area.
The first thing he noticed was the numerous beasts charging at Rum from behind. However, they couldn't keep up with the speed of the huge body getting drawn by gravity.
Some of the beasts tried to shoot the familiar saliva at Rum's body, but the inexplicable defense that consisted of its fur didn't let even a bruise appear on its body.
Instead, the speed of the falling only increased, pushed by the explosion from above, until the sight suddenly faded into that of darkness.
'Clouds?' thought Kevin.
Despite the large moon in the air and the calm weather, a few clouds managed to form.
After a few minutes of complete darkness in the display, the duo finally made it out of the cloud.
With an ordeal of beasts rushing right behind them as the cloud dissipated due to the turbulence in the air.
For the first time, Kevin felt a slight chill on the back of his neck as he rolled his eyelids back to the sea, realizing it was already not so far away.
Still, Kevin didn't order Rum to let him out as he also wanted to lose the tracks of the incoming beasts.
'I will have to get off at the last minute. Even if it is Rum, falling from such a distance would mean instant death for both of us,' Kevin thought as he prepared to execute his plan.
The ocean shifted closer and closer as the beasts increased their speed.
By stirring their wings against their bodies, the beasts managed to amplify their momentum to an inexplicable level, making them many times faster than Rum.
Slowly but steadily, the beasts caught up, as did the distance to the ocean. Despite the dangerous situation, Kevin only smiled as he muttered:
"Ability sharing"
Immediately, Kevin detached his body from Rum as he felt a strong windfall on his face, causing it to redden. Still, Kevin didn't feel any coldness because of the inexplicable adrenalin rushing through his body.
After blinking a few times, Kevin finally managed to regain his usual vision, which was filled with the blueness of the ocean.
'A few more seconds,' Kevin thought after glancing behind where at least twenty beasts were still charging at him, being only a few feet away from biting into his body.
Kevin quickened his pace, placing his hand crosswise on his chest as he shot forward like a projectile.
Stronger gusts of wind fell on his face, making his eyes water from the force until eventually, his vision blurred.
"Now" Kevin used the god power of Markus, spontaneously feeling a slight tightness around his body as if he could walk on the air itself.
Using this ability to his advantage, Kevin turned his body 180 degrees and at the moment of almost hitting the surface of the water, stopped in the midair.
Fortunately, the beasts behind him weren't so lucky, as they all plummeted into the water, disappearing from Kevin's sight. A few splashes of water fell from above onto Kevin's body, triggered by the impact of the beasts.
'What do I do now?' thought Kevin as he couldn't even manage to move from the spot because of this god power's complexation. Instead, Kevin slowly descended further down into the blue ocean until his feet touched the surface of the water.
'Damn, I have to think of something. If any of the beasts are still alive, I am done for' Kevin cursed inwardly while trying to stop his descending.
Although it was unlikely that the beasts would remain alive after such a collision with the water, Kevin still stayed cautioned. Coupled with the fact that the underwater type beasts may be already coming this way, which was very likely, Kevin had to act quickly.
'Maybe this will work?' guessed Kevin as he poured mana into his legs and unintentionally began to fly upwards. A smile flitted across Kevin's face before it turned into a thoughtful one.
'I can't stop!' Kevin cursed in his head before blocking the mana wave, forcing him to move back down.
'Good, one more time.'
Kevin let mana flow into his legs once again, this time, less abruptly. Fortunately, his work paid off, causing a slight smirk to appear on his face.
With a slow movement, Kevin finally got the tinge of this complicated god power.
It wasn't that the god power was compounded itself, it was just that Kevin's control over the mana was still mediocre despite so much training. Definitely, something that could be improved upon later.
"Alright, now for the really complicated part" Kevin eyed the whole area, which was covered in nothing but seawater that reflected the faint layers of moonlight.
There was no sign of land to be seen, not even the soul of a beast. Just a calm, breathtaking scene that would bring nothing but sheer excitement to the majority. Yet there was no smile on Kevin's face.
'The mana consumption for this god power is definitely much higher than expected....will probably be used up before thirty minutes, meaning I need to find a place to rest in about twenty minutes,' Kevin started calculating in his head, 'Considering we've been flying for over three hours, the land of China shouldn't be far away....but it's still not enough time.'
'Well, there's nothing to do but move forward,' Kevin thought as he surged mana into the lower part of his body, beginning to fly forward at a slow speed. Despite the sluggish pace, mana was disappearing at an incredible rate.
"It seems that my calculations were wrong... I doubt I can last twenty minutes," Kevin cursed before increasing his flying speed.
With each passing second, Kevin felt worse and worse until eventually, Kevin began to panic.
If the Mana ran out, Kevin would fall into the ocean and most likely be devoured by the beasts brewing there. Worst case scenario, Kevin would just pass out, making him a piece of meat waiting for death to come.
"I'll have to think of something" Kevin surveyed the blue ocean once more, searching for at least a hint of possible shelter, yet there was nothing.
"Damn" Kevin felt strength leaving his body as the pace of flying slowed a bit. The sight of his was getting blurry with mana disappearing from his storage.
Against all odds, Kevin didn't stop shuttling while glancing around for any changes in the surroundings.
.
.
.
.
Ten minutes later.
"A...land" came out the shaken voice from Kevin's mouth as he reached his hand into the distance. An island, which covered a big part of the area, could be seen not so far in the horizon.
Even though Kevin couldn't understand where the piece of land came from, he didn't care. His entire mind was filled with only one thought.
To survive.
The mana in his storage had long since been depleted, and Kevin only managed to move forward with his sheer will.
As a result, Kevin's body was racked with immense pain, while his vision was so blurry, to the point that the island looked more like a brown piece of rock that Kevin had to reach no matter what.
'What the hell?'
Kevin suddenly felt an immense danger coming from the side as he rolled his eyes weakly, preparing to defend himself with all the remaining strength.
But the attack was something Kevin couldn't possibly resist, even dodging it wasn't an option.
A steep tsunami was incoming towards Kevin with frightening speed. Though Kevin tried to fly upwards, the weakness that overwhelmed his body forced Kevin back to the spot.
With no means of retreat, Kevin was engulfed by the blue layer of water, disappearing in the azure of the bottomless ocean.
