Emotionless emptiness

Haru looks at me. My finger on his lips. His face reddens. He holds my hand and pushes it away from him. "I think I should get going." He says. He stood up and was about to leave when something stopped him. I realised I was holding on to his hands tightly.

Emotions were rummaging my head. All I needed was someone to hold me. Someone to hug me. I looked at him, my mouth wasn't moving but my eyes affixed on Haru as if urging him to not leave me. Haru wrapped his hands around mine. "Aka-tan, if something's weighing down on you, you can tell me." He said as he sat back down. I tell him it's nothing. That's the best I can work up my courage to say. I get up and dash away from him.

When I reached home it was already evening. Cold breeze filled the atmosphere. "I'm home!"

No response. I looked inside the living room. As always, my sister Yuka was sitting on the sofa, fidgeting around while the television grumbled in the background. "How are you sis?" I asked her. With emotionless eyes she looked at me. Stared at me for a few seconds and then returned to fidgeting.

Ever since that day five years ago, her mind has been sseverely damaged. Her trauma and depression worsened day by day, and in about a month she was diagnosed mentally unstable. She would react with screaming and pulling her hair, even scratching her face if she even saw a male other than father and myself. She would only feel safe with mom. Yuka would mostly be fidgeting with random things around her, while staring at a distance, as if looking at something normal eyes can't percieve.

"You know, I met this person in school today. He's a transfer student. He's a good guy. And I guess I have fallen fo..." I stopped before completing the sentence. In front of me was my sister who isn't able to live a normal life. And here I'm talking about falling in love. I quietly walked up to my room.
