At this moment, two Xu Yue's stood face to face to each other as they searched for a way to once again become one, as such, a dozen years passed in a flash.
...
"Impossible," shouted an old man with a long white beard as he looked at the two female cultivators in front of her who were fusing.
Looking at how something that took him over a million years, was accomplished in merely a dozen, the old man nearly fainted.
"She sensed it, not comprehend it, young lad, If this formation could help someone comprehend it, we wouldn't still be a mere First Grade power," said another old man as he appeared behind him.
"But still..." mumbled the old man as he felt crushed by the scene in front of him.
"Don't worry, you are very talented, just don't compare yourself with her, I haven't seen many cultivators with talent as good as yours," said the old man as he guided his junior, who happened to be an old man as well.
...
As Xu Yue looked at her clone opposite of her, she suddenly sensed something extremely vague, so vague she could not even understand it.
The moment Xu Yue managed to barely sense it, she felt a majestic power suddenly push her and her clone together, not in a physical sense, but rather in another way, knowing tht it was this Immortal formation affecting her.
At this moment, Xu Yue tried her best to feel that vague thing again, and as she barely managed to do so, a surprised expression appeared on Xu Yue's face.
Compared to before, the vague thing seemed much bigger, Xu Yue did not even know how much bigger, but since two equal things were fused, she assumed that it had become twice as big.
Suddenly, a word came up in Xu Yue's mind, seemingly from the depths of her soul.
She had sensed her existence, realized Xu Yue, but as she did so, many thoughts emerged in her mind.
"Nothing seems to have changed," thought Xu Yue as she tried to find any differences in herself after supposedly passing the trial of the formation.
Of course, Xu Yue was right, even though she had somehow managed to sense what she thought was her existence, no apparent improvement to her strength followed,.
As such, even though Xu Yue sensed the faint existence, no excitement appeared on her face, for all Xu Yue knew, this feat might as well have been useless.
Suddenly, Xu Yue noticed something, looking at the floating door that just appeared in front of her, Xu Yue walked up to it and pushed it open, revealing a small room with a table and chairs in it, sitting on one of the chairs, was an old man with a long white beard.
Seeing this, a surprised expression appeared on Xu Yue's face, but even so, she still stepped foot inside of the door.
"You can take a seat," said the old man as he calmly looked at Xu Yue before smiling, causing the latter to sit down on the opposite chair.
"Xu Yue greets senior of the Mountain Moving Sect," said Xu Yue as she looked at the old man in front of her with a smile on her face.
"You don't have to be so formal, I Shan Ling, am not so backward and conservative," said old man Shan Ling as he took a nice sip of his tea.
As she heard the old man's name, a certain idea popped out into Xu Yue's mind.
"Don't even bother asking, I'm not so mountain spirit, my parent's gave me that name," said old man Shan Ling as a slightly annoyed look appeared on his face.
Hearing that, Xu Yue nodded, causing old man Shan Ling to feel a slight headache as he knew that the girl before him did not actually believe him.
"So what question did you want to be answered so badly that you decided to pass the Formation Trial of our sect?" asked the old man as he looked at Xu Yue with a confused expression on his face, wondering what question the latter would ask.
Suddenly, Xu Yue seemed to fall into deep thought, causing the old man in front of her to immediately know what was happening.
"She didn't actually have any questions, she just wanted to see the trial herself," thought the old man as Xu Yue finally decided on her question.
"What's existence," asked Xu Yue as she realized the only thing that she didn't know about right now that she wanted to find the answer to was that.
Hearing what Xu Yue asked, Shan Ling thought for a moment about how to answer the question, as explaining existence to someone not familiar could be quite annoying.
"You can think of existence as a deeper representation of your true self, for example, while mortals take their bodies as their true selves, cultivators take their souls as their true selves, this exact same parallel could be made about the soul and existence," said the old man, causing Xu Yue to realize what he meant.
"For example, similarly to how cultivators can possess bodies, those that have mastered their existence can possess and transfer themselves between different souls," said the old man, causing Xu Yue to nearly spit out her tea.
Even though she had an extremely tough Dao Heart, this was the first time Xu Yue heard something that completely subverted her worldview.
"Then who are those beings that mastered existence?" unconsciously asked Xu Yue, wanting to guard against them.
"You don't have to worry, of all of the beings that mastered, only a few of them are still here," said the old man as he picked up his cup of tea.
"Are they-"
"Of course, the ones that mastered existence are True Immortals, rather, the most difficult prerequisite to becoming a true Immortal is mastering your existence," said the old man, spilling the beans on some secrets that Xu Yue did not yet know.
Hearing that, Xu Yue breathed a sigh of relief, but of course, she was very much curios what the old man said about 'those four'
