The next morning, Fate woke up curled up beside Nyx. She began to think about the events of yesterday. She found out a lot about her abilities compared to creatures with magic.
She had learned from the man she interrogated that there isn't any magic spells from the six elements that can be used to increase one's physical aspects. There were some bloodline magics that did so. This meant that compared to most other intelligent races, she was extraordinarily strong, even without that power, since most mages train their magic and mental abilities rather than the physical.
The fight with the goblins yesterday proved that to be correct. But the other thing she was wondering about was Nyx.
Why did it suddenly glow and change? Did it absorb and dissolve the bodies and add to the slime's own mass? No, if that were the case, the Nyx would've become much bigger than it is now. Fate had to figure that it was either something only slimes did, or all monsters did.
What made monsters different from normal animals was the ability to use magic, but that's all the info Fate got from the man she interrogated. Other than that, she knew absolutely nothing about monsters. This concerned Fate a bit. If she knew too little, then she could get caught off guard by some monster's random power that she knew nothing about.
Seemingly sensing Fate's apprehension, the slim bobbed up and down, almost as if it was rubbing its face against her like a cat.
Fate smiled, "Thanks, Nyx. I'm fine. I appreciate you worrying about me." The slime jumped onto her chest and began wrapping its body around her, almost like a child giving a parent a hug, "Hey, careful! I'm thankful for you cleaning me up yesterday but you and I have to have a talk about where you put you slime tentacles," Fate said with a blush.
Fate spent a few more minutes cuddling with her pet before getting up, "Alright, I want to figure out what happened to you yesterday."
They both went to a secluded part of the ruins and arrived in front of a large pillar, "Okay, attack that thing as hard as you can," Fate said, pointing at the pillar.
The slime extended one of its tentacles faster than Fate's eyes could keep up with and struck the stone. The pillar shattered into a million pieces. Fate covered her eyes as dust and debris filled the room. Then looked back to see the pillar completely destroyed. Her wide eyes then went to her little slime on the floor.
"Well damn. Looks like I was right."
Fate figured that Nyx must gotten stronger after devouring those corpses. The only question is "How?" Was it the bodies or was it the Mana? Or maybe it was the power running through Fate's body. Either way, Fate didn't mind. A strong ally would definitely help out.
As Fate reached down and patted Nyx, she suddenly her a commotion within her field of hearing. She could hear shouts and metal clanging against metal. There was a battle nearby. Fate quickly grabbed her pet and accelerated as fast as she could towards the source.
Arriving with Nyx in her arms, Fate found that she was, once again, correct. She stood on top of a large rock spiking diagonally out of the ground. And below her was a tiny battle field.
She saw an overturned carriage with bodies littering the ground. Some of the bodies had silver armor, which she assumed were knights, and others were dressed in leather or pelts, which she assumed were bandits. Past them, the actual battle was still taking place. There were three knights left, but around twenty bandits.
Looking closer, Fate saw that the knights were actually protecting two girls. One looked to be around her age while the other was a bit older. The older one had green eye while the younger had blue eyes. Both had long golden hair. And both were quite pretty. Fate could see why these bandits would want up capture them.
Looking closer at the knights, she found that the two on the sides were at death's door with their bodies covered in cuts and blood. The one in middle was looking pretty exhausted. She had brown hair in a pony tail with green eyes. The knight lady definitely wasn't bad looking either.
As Fate was thinking, she saw the other two knights go down from the loss of blood. Now it was only the female knight left. Against twenty bandits, she didn't stand a chance. It was either death, or she allowed herself and the girls she's protecting to be captured.
Fate wanted to intercede, but she was unsure. What if the bandits have a powerful magic user? What if the people she saved stab her in the back like her superiors did in her least life? After all, she was a minority race in this world.
However, Fate knew what would probably happen if she stood by and did nothing. She wasn't about to let these girls get r*ped and killed by the bandits. Now that she's decided that, the only question remains… how is she going to make her entrance?
