Win her Back

Everything in Lara and Cameron's life is perfect. They had been married for almost two years, and in that time, Lara had won her third world title, but in one of the last races of the championship, Cameron suffered an accident that would make him leave F1. Lara leaves the competition temporarily to help her husband, but he isn't the same Cameron she had fallen in love and married with. What will happen between the two of them? Will Cameron's stubbornness in believing that they, especially his wife, only want to help him because out of pity or will end up making Lara end up walking away?

CAMERON'S POV

Two weeks had passed since Lara went home with Eli and although I preferred that she isn't at the trial, it didn't change that I missed her, but she wouldn't stress over things she shouldn't have, and that mattered to me now. Besides, there were only two and a half weeks left until she's due, and the truth is that I preferred her to be at home than here. At least the jury found Gallagher guilty, so he would spend about five years in prison, and I know Lara was happy about that.

A week had passed since then, but Serena had called me to talk about some job for me on the team, and even though I didn't know anything other than driving, I want to hear the proposal. It would be interesting to work with Lara, I have no doubt about that.

"Cameron, how nice to see you. I have heard the verdict. Congratulations, I'm completely sure Lara is delighted" she said, and I nodded "She is, and relieved" I responded, and she nodded "I understand her perfectly. Take a seat, you and I must talk" she said, and I sat in the chair in front of her "The truth is that I don't know what I can do. As you know, I don't know how to do anything other than drive" I replied and she denied, "It may be that you consider that's the only thing you know how to do, and that's why I brought you here. I have a proposal for you" she informed, and I nodded "Well, say it whenever you want, I'm ready to hear it."

"I know you're not sure what you want to do now that your racing career is not viable, and I know that you will want to be with Lara while she competes, which I totally understand. I propose that you be with the team until you know something you might like to do and when you know what it is, I will put you in that position" Serena responded, and the truth is that surprised me a little "I wouldn't be taking away anyone's job, right?" I asked and she denied "No, you wouldn't be doing it. If not, you can always be Lara's representative, I understand he wants to dedicate herself to something else."

"Lara didn't tell me anything about that," I muttered to myself, and Serena shrugged. "It doesn't really surprise me, but we found out a week ago. Maybe it's something she wants to talk about in person," she pointed out and I nodded, because it's a possibility. "So, I could do whatever I wanted on your team?" I asked curiously and she nodded. "I know Lara won't be happy not having you around always, and even though I know you can travel with her, I know you'll get bored doing nothing. Both you and Eli can be involved in everything that has to do with the team. Plus, it's a way to have the kids close to Lara once she competes again, I know she would go crazy not having them with her."

"I have no doubt about that, and really, I appreciate you giving me this opportunity, but I would like to think about it calmly and go home with my wife" I responded and Serena nodded with a big smile on her face "Go, I know she's looking forward to you getting home" Lara's boss responded and I nodded, because that's something she told me a few times since she's home.

Once I left the building, I went to where I had left the car, I got in once I arrived and when I'm about to start, the phone rings. I didn't have the slightest idea who it could be, but I decided to answer in case it was something to do with Lara or something I had to do in Manchester since I'm here. "Say," I said, "Hello, we're calling from Headborn Penitentiary and you're receiving a call, do you want to accept it?" asked a robotic voice, but at this point I'm so confused as to who could be calling me from a penitentiary that I accepted the call.

"Cameron?" asked the voice of the one who once was my best friend. I stayed silent because I have no idea why he's calling me, much less how he got my phone number. "I know you must be wondering how I got your phone number, but I was just calling to find out what you had decided because really, Sallie's mother doesn't have much more time" he said and I frowned, because I still wasn't understanding anything, or what he meant about us having decided "What are we supposed to decide? And who has to say?" I asked curiously, but not liking where this is going. "You don't know what I'm talking about?" He asked and I denied, but then I realized he wasn't looking at me, so I responded with a simple no. "I thought Lara had already told you, or your mother."

As soon as my wife's name comes out of his mouth I frown, because if before I wasn't understanding anything, now I was even less understanding something, but I didn't focus on that, even though it bothered me he said Lara's name, something told me he could tell me what the hell was going on, because I have the feeling everyone knows something except me. "Well, you tell me since I don't know anything," I said tensely.

"What happened with your sister... was because she asked us to, that's why we did it, and to prove that your sister recorded a video telling everything" he informed and I denied, because Ellie wouldn't do something like that, much less not tell me. Would Lara hide something like that? "I know you're not believing me, and I can assure you your wife didn't do it either when she came to prison, but I left her a video so she could see for herself and judge if what we're saying is true or not." he pointed out and I denied once again, because this couldn't be happening. "Are you telling me my wife went to visit you in prison and didn't tell me anything?" I responded without believing what he's saying, at least completely, "Look, I don't have the slightest idea why she didn't tell you anything about her coming to see me in prison, I only know she told me he came in your mother place. I thought you knew what I was talking about," he said, but I decided to hang up, because at this point, I'm angry. Angry at my wife for not telling me what she had done. Angry at my mother for not telling me what was happening. Angry at everyone for not having told me anything, because I'm sure everyone knew what's happening and no one deigned to tell me anything.

After a few minutes of calming down at least a little so I could drive, I went to the airport where the plane was waiting for me. Two and a half hours later, I am almost getting home, sure that Lara would be there, since she told me this morning, she didn't want to leave the house and her mother and grandmother were going to visit her, which I hoped they wouldn't be there in at this moment the truth is, because I'm not sure they knew what was happening.

When I got home, I opened the door with such force that it ended up hitting the wall, which made Lara, my mother, Eli and Bianca come out to see what was happening. A smile appeared on my mother's face, but I could see on my wife's face she knew something wasn't right, which is great, because I'm angry because of her. "Tell me why the hell you didn't tell me that you had gone to visit my sister's murderers and you hadn't said a single word to me" I said, containing my anger as best I could.

"Well for this same reason. I knew you would be angry the way you are right now" my wife responded simply, which made my anger increase "And don't you think I should have known?" I asked and Lara raised an eyebrow. "Know what? That I had gone to visit those who were once your friends?" She asked and I took a deep breath before answering, because the truth is, at this moment I didn't want to shout "Cameron, before you get mad at your wife, I should tell you I was the one who..." my mother began, but no. I could contain my anger more. I'm angrier than ever.

"ARE YOU GOING TO TELL ME YOU BELIEVE WHAT THEY SAY, MOM? THEY ARE ELLIE'S KILLERS!" I shouted, desperate to make her see it. "Cameron don't yell at your mother" my wife said seriously, which made me focus my gaze on her. "Don't sniff where you don't have Lara." She crossed her arms "Of course I'm going to get involved, you're angry and believe me, I understand it, but let us tell you the reasons we have before…" she answered, but I stopped her before she finished whatever she was going to say. "I SPEAK HOW I WANT. IN THE END YOU WERE BOTH HIDING SOMETHING FROM ME HAS MORE TO DO WITH ME THAN IT HAS TO DO WITH YOU LARA. THIS IS A THING ABOUT MY FAMILY, NOT YOURS" I said, and I could see how that had bothered her, I could almost say angry, but at this moment I didn't give a shit.

"This became my business the moment we got married, because as you know, that unites our families, and I swear I wouldn't hesitate once to hide it from you from the beginning, because in the end, as you said, it's none of your business... it's my life and I do whatever I want with it" she pointed out and I denied "No, you should have told me from the beginning because this has nothing to do with you. She was my sister, and she was nothing to you" I responded, and I could see how Lara stretched her arm next to her, letting me see an angry Bianca too, but at this moment I didn't care at all.

"Control your words, stupid, because you're talking to your wife and my sister," Bianca said, clenching her jaw. "Well, maybe your sister shouldn't sniff where nobody wants" I responded, and I know Bianca would have answered me if Lara hadn't told her. She looked at her sister and denied. "I want that video" I asked, and my mother stood next to Lara "What for? To torture you more?" My wife asked "I said I want the damn VIDEO" I responded, and Lara nodded "Very well, whatever you want" she answered taking her cell phone and not much later I received a notification, which I assume was the video.

"There you have it" he said pointing at me and I nodded. I also decided it's better to go out and get some air, because even though I knew there's probably a reason behind why they didn't tell me, I'm still angry at them for not telling me anything and I didn't want to say any more rude things to any of them, at least not something that could make Lara more angry than she is at this moment, so I leave the house and go to one of the places where I know there will be no one and it will give me peace of mind to gather my thoughts and watch the video.
