Sports Festival 2

"Start!"

As soon as the gate opened, the crowd of students started to make their way through the gate. Unfortunately, the gate was too narrow for everyone to go all at once and it caused a pile-up, slowing some students down.

Tobias seeing this, quickly took out a card and activated it causing him to sprout a pair of wings on his back before taking off and getting ahead of the pack. As he got to the front, he looked down at Todoroki who was freezing the ground under him as he ran, to slow down the other students.

Kyoka, on the other hand, was able to quickly make her way through the gate tunnel by jumping up and using a sound blast to propel herself forwards while using her jacks as grapples, like a certain spider hero.

Of course, they weren't the only ones with tricks up their sleeves as many of the Class 1-A students were able to easily cross the gate using their quirks.

"I ain't let you get ahead that easy, half 'n' half and card freak!" yelled Bakugo as he exploded his way to the front.

"Come on, card freak? Really? You can do better than that." teased Tobias as he lazily flew in the air while keeping a little ahead of Todoroki. Looking back at the crowd of those who made it past Todoroki's freezing, he noticed the purple-haired kid from general studies was being carried by students.

'Interesting. A mind control quirk of some kind? He would be in a hero class if it wasn't useless for the entrance exam. Have to watch out for that. Although, I could take the chance to try out a trap card I've been wanting to test.' thought Tobias as he lazily kept flying.

"Ah, that kid and his showing off. I swear I'm going to set him straight once this is all over." said Tobias' mom as she was watching him on the screens along with Tobias' dad and Kyoka's parents.

"Now, now, honey. Calm down. You know how he usually is, but when he needs to be serious he is, you know that." said Tobias' father placating his wife's wrath.

'Why am I shivering? What happened?' thought Tobias as he looked around at what caused his shivering, but only noticed that the robots from the Entrance Exam had started appearing.

"Every obstacle course needs obstacles!! Starting with the first barrier. Robo Inferno!" announced Present Mic causing Tobias to look ahead to see the 0 pointer robots from the exam.

"Not a bad obstacle for those on the ground, too easy for me though." said Tobias as he quickly maneuvered past the robots before he saw a few become covered in ice courtesy of Todoroki.

"Sneaky, sneaky, Todoroki." said Tobias as he flew right above Todoroki.

"If they can't tell that I froze them in unstable positions that's not my problem." he said as he continued running.

"1-A's Tobias! Easily flying through the robots without breaking a sweat! While 1-A's Todoroki busts through and sabotages the others in one move! This guy's cold!" said Present Mic.

"And also, you would watch where you're flying." said Todoroki as Tobias rolled to the side as a pillar of ice appeared right in his flight path before a lot more started shooting up.

"This is fun!" said Tobias as he maneuvered around the pillars.

"Tch." said Todoroki stopping the pillars.

"1-A's Kirishima and 1-B's Tetsutestsu were both crushed! Ouch!" said Present Mic.

BOOM BOOM BOOM

"Oh, here comes Bakugo." said Tobias as he and Todoroki turned to see that Bakugo was using his quirk as jets to maneuver around the robots and towards the both of them followed by Sero, Tokoyami, and Kyoka close behind.

"Hahaha, that's my girl." said Tobias seeing that Kyoka was ahead of the pack.

"The current leaders of the pack are overwhelmingly from Class A!" said Present Mic.

"Next obstacle coming up, I'll see you on the other end." said Tobias before speeding up.

"Damn it." said Todoroki as he saw him fly away.

"So the first barrier was a piece of cake?! How about the second?! Fall and you're out! You gotta crawl across if you wanna make it! This is the fall!" said Present Mic as he introduced the second obstacle which was various platforms with a lot of space in between with ropes as the only path to make it to the end.

Tobias was already at the end of the second course but was waiting around to see the action.

"Oh my! It seems like this second course was an absolute breeze for Tobias! What can't he do?!" said Present Mic.

Floating in place, Tobias saw that a girl with a bunch of gadgets was screaming about something or other before she launched a grappling hook and used her boots to save her fall.

'Must be a support class student. If all else fails, I could probably do that.'

Paying attention to the race again, he saw Todoroki freezing the ropes and skating on them while Bakugo was using the same move to quickly traverse platforms. Kyoka was doing something similar to him because she was able to train her sound blasts enough to where she could use them more often than compared to the quirk assessment. Seeing that Todoroki was close to the end, Tobias flew on ahead.

"The leads keep breaking ahead, while the rest of the pack is bunched up! Our racers don't know how many will get to move on, so all they can do is aim for first place! And our leader has reached the final barrier after having waited for the competition! That is to say this minefield! It's a deadly obstacle! A quick glance is enough to reveal the mines' locations! So keep both eyes open and watch your step or flight path! I should also mention our mines don't pack a deadly punch, but they're loud and flashy enough that you might need a change of underwear when it's all over!" said Present Mic.

'Flight path, eh? So it seems they've altered the mines so I won't have it too easy anymore. Fun.' said Tobias as he took out a card and threw it in an empty spot on the minefield before it activated, sending out a pulse only he could see and revealing all the mines.

"Oh, it seems Tobias has somehow figured out where all the mines are! He's flying right through it with no problem! It seems first place has been decided but everyone else needs to hurry up for second! Todoroki has considerably slowed down while trying not to step on any mines!" said Present Mic.

"Damn." said Todoroki as he was carefully stepping through the minefield as he saw Tobias fly right on through.

BOOM

"Haha! This crap can't slow me down!" said Bakugo as he flew right up to Todoroki.

"You. Your declaration of war was to the wrong people." he said to him.

"We have a new second in the lead! Get excited, mass media! You love this sort of turnaround! But the rest are catching up! But with these two grappling for second, can they hold on to their lead?!" said Present Mic.

Tobias who was already at the finish line turned around to see Bakugo and Todoroki fighting each other as they continued to make their way through the fields.

BOOM

"Oh? Hahaha!" laughed Tobias seeing the source of the explosion.

"A giant explosion from behind?! What caused such a blast?! An accident? Or was it intentional? And Class A's Midoriya rides the wave in hot pursuit while the first-place winner Tobias laughs at the sight!" commented Present Mic.

Midoriya who was riding the wave, unfortunately, wasn't able to make it all the way to the end.

"Deku! Get the hell back here!" yelled Bakugo as he used his quirk to fly forward while Todoroki created an ice path toward the finishing line.

"Our former second place leaders have called a ceasefire to chase down Midoriya! When a common enemy appears, people stop fighting! Well, actually, they're still fighting, just not each other!" said Present Mic.

Midoriya who was losing momentum swung the metal sheet he was riding on the ground causing more explosions to propel him forward.

"And Midoriya blows off the competition with no time to lose! Your class is something else, Eraser Head! What're you teaching those kids?! Well, who could have predicted such an incredible turn of events so early on?! The one who made it back to the stadium second is none other than Izuku Midoriya! Unfortunately for him, our first place Tobias Fukushima had finished long before everyone else! But still, what an exciting first round wouldn't you say?!"

Tobias who had been waiting at the end, went up to Midoriya.

"Nice job using the explosions to make your way forward, Midoriya."

"E-eh, thanks Tobias-kun. But it's nothing compared to you. I mean you finished before everyone else without breaking a sweat!" he said.

"Nah, that's just because they didn't take into account my versatility. The real competition will start now."

"Racers cross the finish line one after the other! We'll go over the standings later, so catch your breath for now!" said Present Mic.

"Again. Dammit! Those little!" said Bakugo while Todoroki was just looking at the two who beat him.

"Deku, Tobias, that was awesome!" said Uraraka as she made her way over to the pair while Ida was mumbling about how he lost a race of all things.

"Thanks."

"First place and second place though! Man, I'm jealous!" she said causing Midoriya to blush.

"Tobias. Nice job." said Kyoka as she made her way over to him.

"Oh, Kyoka. Thanks. How'd you do?" he asked.

"Fifth. Barely beat that vine girl from 1-B but it was a close call." she said, panting a little.

"Oh, that's awesome! I'm proud of you!" said Tobias.

"So it's finally over. Let's check the results!" said Midnight-sensei as the results appear on the big screen.

"Oh, it seems our entire class made it." said Tobias as he looked at the results.

"And Mina, Toru, and Momo did well too." mentioned Kyoka.

"Nice."

"The top 42 from this qualifying round will move on! But for those who placed lower, don't worry! We've got another way for you to show your stuff! And now the main selection really begins! The press corp's going to be jumping out of their seats, so give it all you've got! Now, on to the second event! I already know what it is, of course. Next up is this!" she said, pointing at a screen that said Cavalry Battle.

"We're teaming up, huh?"

"Participants will, on their own, form teams of two to four members each and get into a horse-and-rider formation! The rules are fundamentally the same as those of an ordinary cavalry battle- snag your opponents' headbands while guarding your own- but with one exception. Each of you has been assigned a point value based on your ranking in the last event!"

"So the point value of each team depends on its members!" said a student.

"I was getting to that!" she yelled.

"Anyway, yes! And your individual point values start at five, at the bottom! So the student who took 42nd place is worth five points, 41st is worth ten points, and so on. But, our first-place participant is worth ten million points!" she said causing everyone to turn and look at Tobias.

"Interesting." he said with a big smile.

"The higher ranked students are the ones to aim for. This survival game is a chance for a comeback. It's anyone's game!"

Double today, but I'm rewriting the next one because I didn't like how it felt, so it should be up later today.

I think for battle scenes/action scenes I'll switch to a more traditional 3rd POV where everyone's covered rather than one focused on just Tobias, but for normal chaps, I won't. It allows me to cover everything in battle but keep things he doesn't know a mystery to readers.
