chapter 2

WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMON.

Chapter two.

This guy in black tuxedo drove me to my house. I don't remember directing him to my house, he just drove in silence playing deep house. He looks to be in peace but the wear is just off or maybe he's going to attend some meeting and what is this wired thingy thing behind his ear, I'm not sure of what it's called.

"Is everything well ma'am?" his voice is deep but polite too

I clear my throat before answering

"Yes" I look through the window on my right..

Somethings just not right here. I mean I don't know this man and yet he's the one driving me to my house, I've never seen his face before. I can't recall bumping into him or anything like that.

He parks the car in the yard and comes out first to help me get out of the car. It was kind of a struggle but I needed his help, I take the crutch from him and begin limping toward the main door. He opens the door first, I was expecting to see Nkanyiso and my mother but the house looks empty, I sigh. I limp all the way to living room and this gentleman helps me lay on the couch.. I thanked him, mind you I've noticed that he doesn't do eye contact which is kind of weird to me but also making me think that my appearances are maybe scaring him or unpleasant to him lol. Why am I even thinking of that..

The guy begins to walk away, maybe I should just thank him for saving my life even though I didn't need it.

"Ngiyabonga(thank you) for saving my life" I say as I watch him walk away leaving in a comfortable position

He stops midway, without looking back to me.

"I'm just doing what I was instructed to do" his response before walking away.

Confused as I am with his words, does this mean someone sent him to do all of this. Trying to be all nice to me and all that. My legs hurt so bad.. I feel yet tired I need some rest.

....

I woke up hearing my son's voice 'Mommy!' and his little fingers all over my face. I smile tickling his armpits and his laugh just somehow made me feel good for a moment.

"I missed you mommy" he says sadly looking into my eyes

"I missed you too baby, how was your stay with your grandparents?" I ask

"It was good, I'm going back there next week Friday as I promised my grandfather" he says

I could just tell in his excited voice he was happy he spent some time with his grandfather..

"And I got to meet my daddy" his smile grew wider

My heart beat drops once again, it's that feeling again.

"Uhm.. You should probably go and sleep" I say right after he uttered that

"isn't it too early for that?" he questions

"Nkanyiso just go and prepare yourself for bed. Tomorrow is school day" I say

"I am not going to school tomorrow" he says getting up from the couch

"Nkanyiso don't make me want to-" he didn't even let me finish the sentence

"I just don't want to leave you like this" he says looking at my leg

I sigh, he's only six years. He won't understand

"You're only six years old Nkanyiso, don't back chat with me. I'm your mother and tomorrow you are going to school!" I raised my voice in a bit anger

He looks startled, he didn't say anything right after. He ran to his bedroom, I sigh my head is painful. I need to take painkillers as I should be. I try getting up using the crutch to get up and i limped to the kitchen, I try to reach out for a glass in the cabinet but it slipped and fell onto the counter luckily it didn't break. I put it down properly and my eyes caught something that it's on the counter, it looks like a card like a phone number card. I take it and take a proper look at it, it's written *call this number 07******* if you need anything*. I roll my eyes and toss it in the drawer and close the drawer then I poured water into the glass and took my painkiller pills.

After that I went to check on Nkanyiso in his bedroom and I found him fast asleep. I feel bad about today, my baby jusy cares about me and all I just did was shout at him which was not right. I kiss him on his forehead then I went to my bedroom and I just slept.

Three weeks later.

My leg is getting better, I didn't have any deep cuts from accident. I was not badly hurt. I'm walking without using the crutch now, and im just getting better at it especially the exercises I was doing. It has been a hard three weeks but I managed to pull it through. Haven't seen Manzini since that day and I hope he doesn't come here.

"Sindisiwe" my mother calls I'm seated at the mini bar in my house

I turn my head to her and look at her walk to me, she sits on the next stool.

"Ma what brings you here?" I ask

"Haw, I came here to check on you" she says

"I'm good, I told you that over the phone" I say

"You look stressed out" she says

She's just seeing things I look fine, just that I have been losing a bit of sleep and haven't yet went back to work

"I'm just tired" I respond

She nods doubtfully

"Siwe. You need to give this man a chance" here we go again

I know my mother loved Manzini but I didn't know she loved him like this I mean like him obviously.

"Ma not now, ngiyakucela(please)" I say annoyed

She sighs

"All I am saying is that people change and people deserves a second chance" she says

"I'm not about to argue with you about that man." I point out

She keeps quiet... For long, she gets up and decides to leave I sat there and just thought of everything. Nkanyiso is currently at his friend's house I'm sure they are playing. My phone suddenly rings pulling me out of my thoughts, Swazi's name pops up on the screen. I answer it without thinking twice

Me:Hello?

Swazi!: Do you feel like going out?

Me: a drink could do right now

Swazi: I'll come and fetch you..

Me: okay

-I drop the call and wait for her. Nomaswazi is my friend, we've been friends since high school, eleventh grade.
