011 [Enchantment]

Luis put his spear and 10 mana stones on top of the table.

"[Enchantment]"

He then pours a little mana from his body. That mana is used as a 'bait' to let the mana stone release its mana. Luis then guides the mana to move along a predetermined route. This step is important as a slight mistake can make the enchantment process fail or give the spear a different enchantment.

Luis moves the mana, stopped a part of it at some point. Moves it again, stop, rotate, etc. He does this until some kind of mana circuit is formed on the spear. Along the circuit, there is a node where a small amount of mana is stored. The shape of the mana circuit and its node is the one that determines what kind of enchantment the weapon gets.

"I used more mana than I should use. Luckily, nothing bad happened and the enchantment is complete."

When enchanting something, the enchanter only needs to use a little bit of mana. That mana from enchanter is only used as a 'bait'. To explain it in detail, the mana that the enchanter release is used to open the mana stones. Mana stones that have been opened will release mana to its surrounding. The mana from the mana stone is then used to make the mana circuit.

This time, Luis is not able to open all the mana stones perfectly. The result is that he needs to supply more mana to finish the enchantment operation.

On top of the table, there is a mana stone remaining. Luis tried to touch the mana stones.

"Ah, there is an opening here. But it is too small to make the mana release efficient…"

Mana stones that have already opened can only release the mana to its surrounding. That means this mana stone can be said as already been used. So today, Luis wasted a mana stone.

"Well, it is my first time trying [Enchantment]. A little mistake is good enough." Luis then picked up his spear. He can feel the mana circuit that he makes.

"Now let's try it."

Luis put the spear back on top of the table. He then moves back until he reaches the wall. There is a distance of around 2 meters between the spear and himself.

"[Recall]" He said this while thinking about the spear. He feels a little of his mana used. In an instant, the spear that should be two meters away is now in his right hand.

Luis can't help but feel happy. He put both his hand up and shouted, "Success!"

"8 minutes ago… From Zea, 'Can you come to Ethereal now?'.

When Luis opened the door to Ethereal, he found that Zea is already sitting inside. He beelined toward the table where Zea is.

"So what do you want to talk about? And why here?" Luis asked Zea.

"Look." Zea picked up a box from her bag. She then opened the box and showed the item inside. "I made this dagger. I combined steel and mithril to make this dagger."

"Mithril? Since when you have— Wait a minute. Yesterday you come here right? Did you buy the mithril yesterday?"

"Yup, in the morning I go to the Blacksmithing club. I look for permission to use their tools. Then after I get the permission I buy mithril from here." Zea explained.

"You finished the dagger in… a night?"

"Yup." Zea nodded. "Look this dagger is beautiful right? 30 percent of this is made from mithril. It is not a huge percentage but it is still significant."

"So what are the advantage of using mithril as a material for a weapon?" Luis asked.

"It is lighter. Compared to steel, mithril is lighter. For the same volume, it weighs less." Zea paused for a bit.

"Other than that, nothing special. Maybe there is some advantage if used with mana. But I don't know much about that.

"My aim when making this dagger is to make it as light as possible. With my current money, I can only use that much mithril."

Luis is impressed by Zea's action. He recommends a change in Zea's fighting style. From a hard hitter with a machete to a fast-moving fighter that uses a dagger. It is less than two days, but she already had a light dagger. This dagger will perfectly complement her new style.

Luis glanced toward the owner's wife. She noticed Luis's glimpse and nodded while wearing a bitter smile.

"I almost waste my time coming here. Luckily I have another thing to talk about." Luis said as he put his spear on top of the table. "Look here. Can you guess anything different?"

"Oh! Are you talking about that? So what enchantment did you give to the spear?"

The owner and his wife are chatting over the counter. They heard Zea's question and reacted. The owner reacted first, "Wait— Since when can you enchant a weapon?"

"Uhm… Last week?" Luis paused a bit. "Remember when I came with Zea last week? Around an hour before that, we use the skill orbs. Zea got [Blacksmithing] while I got [Enchantment]."

Luis then explained that they get the orbs from the dungeon. He also tells that both of them used the skill orb without knowing what skill they would have gotten.

The owner then picks the spear and appraises it. "It is true, there is a skill imbued inside."

"[Recall]" Luis used the skill. The spear teleported from the owner's hand to Luis's hand.

"Woah! Can you enchant my dagger too?" Zea asked Luis with sparkling eyes.

"Sure, what kind of enchantment do you want?"

"Hmm… What do you think is better for me?" Zea bounces the question back.

"Let me think for a bit." After a few seconds, Luis said, "Maybe something that can help you deal more damage in a short time. I think something that increases the sharpness, or something that can deal other kinds of damage is good.

"[Burning Sword], [Hot Blade] or [Super Sharpness] is good. But I think the most suitable is [Hot Blade]. Different from [Burning Sword], [Hot Blade] doesn't ignite a fire, but it still gives burn damage.

"Then considering your new style, that moves fast a lot, live fire on your sword will only bother you. The disadvantage of using [Hot Blade] is you can't ignite your enemy on fire."
