Even with the mayor's silver tongue, there were still hundreds of people pushing against the gate to make their exit. These were people who knew the duplicitous nature of the mayor. They understood that he was keeping them in the town not for their good, but for his profit.

Some of them even knew that the mayor had sent his family out of the town the moment he realized that people were disappearing by the hundreds.

The mayor stood on top of the walls surrounded by guards but he still felt unsafe in the town. He could understand the position his people were in but this did not mean that he empathized with them. The people were there to serve their rulers and not the other way around. This was his belief and he was not going to let a single person escape from the town. He would rather capture and sell the entire town into slavery.

The more he looked at the disagreeable peasants below, the more he felt that the slavery idea was not half bad . With the remaining population of the town, he could earn enough money to buy a noble title from the Human Empire. This had been his long-held desire. It was also the dream of his ancestors.

The mayor stood there in silence. In truth ,he was beating himself up on the inside for not having thought of this idea much earlier. Although slavery was frowned upon in most parts of the Cloud Empire, there was no law prohibiting it.

He looked down at his stock and it was a good one. This made the fat old man smile with greed . He had previously been putting on a face of the face of a benevolent leader but after his realization, he understood that if he wanted power, he had to grab it by the balls and never let go. The mayor looked at his guards. For this undertaking, he needed to have the complete loyalty of his men. Anything short of absolute loyalty would lead to his death.

"Keep the gates closed at all costs. If anyone tries anything to get out, kill them." ordered the mayor.

His men were shaken by the sudden change in behaviour. These were not the words they expected from their righteous leader.

The mayor walked away with some of the guards following from behind.

"I have to make an air-tight plan." muttered the mayor.

His men did not understand what he was talking about.

The black skeleton spent the entire day trying to understand his power as much as possible .With the battle axe ,it understood the skills as though it had been training with them for hundreds of years .Still, the skeleton felt that it needed real life experience .

After a thorough examination of the information it had ,the skeleton believed that apart from Corpse Qi ,it would need more cultivation techniques and skills for it to be able to increase the level of its skills and techniques .

From the day on wards ,the skeleton began prioritizing the collection of more knowledge.

This did not meant the it did not collect Corpse Qi from the humans but this was just a secondary goal .

After a week,it had collected over ten thousand units of corpse qi and many books but none of them had any information on cultivation.

The skeleton had proven itself correct .Even with ten thousand units of corpse qi ,the option to extrapolate the skills and techniques did not appear meaning that it lacked the necessary information to do so .

The skeleton had hunted in the town killing just a few hundred people each night. It had realized that the town was quickly becoming a ghost town .

Most people stayed indoors and rarely came out .All doors were shut tight and no window could be found open .

The skeleton was not bothered by this change in the town.Doors and windows could not stop it .It had discovered that it could use the corpse flame to turn the wooden doors and windows into dust .

The skeleton had continued its slaughter unimpeded .The mayor had deployed all his guards to patrol the streets but even these soldiers had turned into corpse qi for the black skeleton.

The mayor was infuriated .With each passing day ,his property(Human slaves) was reducing in quantity. This was not a good feeling .

A few days earlier ,the entire Fei family led by their new matriarch Ao Ngo forcefully left the town .The mayor had tried to stop them but his guards were quickly killed by Ao Ngo.

After this ,the people had revolted demanding that they be let out of the town. The mayor had been left with no option but to kill a few hundred people to scare the rest .

The population was rapidly decreasing .The smell of fear permeated every corner of the town.

The mayor even reached a point and began wandering whether he had made the wrong decision by not asking for "help" from the Wind Sect .Hundred Man Town was located in the area ruled by this powerful sect. The reason the mayor had refused to ask for their help was because it was not actually help.It was more like giving the sect a mission to solve the problem. To do this ,he would need to spend everything he had horded till now .For the mayor who loved gold and spirit stones more than life ,this was unacceptable .

As the mayor was seated in his study trying to think of a way out of his predicament,a servant came running into the study.

The mayor was about to give the servant a beating when another man entered the room.

It was the slave traders he had sent a message over a week ago. They had finally arrived.

When the mayor looked at these people ,he saw his money.

He quickly walked forward and bowed slightly.

"I am the mayor of this town,. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance."said the mayor as he looked at a muscular man in front of him .This man was six feet tall and his entire aura was that of murder. He was bare chested and carried a large axe on his shoulder .He looked down at the mayor with a sinister grin.
