B-rate Wingwoman

Setting aside the things that just happened, I've been thinking on what to do before the summoning. Only to end up with nothing. I've given up on pursuing art as it is one of the last ties I've had in my past life and I've cleared up my regrets in painting by creating my self-proclaimed masterpiece.

I thought of wiping the family that kicked my guy out but it would be a blatant disrespect towards the old man that took care and trained my guy.

Though I said that I wanted to nap, I just want to lie down and think about things. I sat down once more and summoned Yamato from my storage. After gaining Vergil's approval, he willingly let me draw the blade of Yamato. Although I'm not a blacksmith, I couldn't help but marvel at its design. As someone who once pursued art, I could say that Yamato is beautiful for its simplicity. Unlike those swords that are covered in gemstones, Yamato is definitely ranked higher than them in my eyes.

"Its just you and me for now, partner." I said as I drew the blade and marveled its sharpness before sheathing it.

Returning Yamato back to the inventory, I stood up and dusted myself as class is going to start soon. As soon as I arrived at the doors, I could hear voices and shouting from the stairs. From the voices, I could hear Hiyama, mocking Hajime for being an otaku.

"Looks like you're having fun, huh, Hiyama?" I said as I looked towards them.

"Mind your own business, punk!" Hiyama shouted. He was currently showing his back to me and completely focused on Hajime but his goon, wasn't.

"Hi-Hiyama-san... look..." Kondou, one of Hiyama's goon, tugged on Hiyama's uniform.

Hiyama finally turned around and saw me. His body stiffened up as if he just saw a ghost.

"This... isn't what you think, Vergil-san." Hiyama said with a pleading tone.

"Hm? What is it then, care to explain?" I asked as I stared at him. Hiyama saw the cold gaze that was staring at him and started trembling.

"W-we were just asking Hajime-san for his notes since we didn't hear Aiko-sensei's lecture very well...." Hiyama said as his body shuddered as cold sweat started seeping through his back.

"Is that so? Have you given it to them?" I asked while looking at Hajime who nodded silently.

"S-see? Since we've got the n-notes, we'll be going back." Hiyama said as his gang followed him as they ran with their tails behind their back.

"*Sigh* Although I admire you for doing that, you should stand up for yourself." I said while Hajime just looked down in shame.

"How would you be able to face Shirasaki-san if all you do is worry her?" I said as I grinned while Hajime felt even more ashamed of himself but his ears were red. Seriously, what an odd pairing, even their reactions were the same.

The sounds of the bell manage to save Hajime from the embarrassment as he stood up and ran down the stairs to return to the classroom.

I entered the classroom and I saw Shizuku from the corner of my eye as she glanced at me and quickly looked away when I was about turn my head to look at her. Kaori, seeing that, grinned making Shizuku embarrassed.

"Is something wrong, Shizuku?" Kouki asked the flustered Shizuku.

"No, it's nothing, why do you ask?" Shizuku replied like its normal but her mind is in turmoil as her best friend, Kaori, was grinning at her.

"Oh, is that so?" Kouki said as he went back to chatting with Ryutarou.

Not minding them, I quickly returned to my lovely desk and laid my head down and slept. I just felt like being lazy, what can you do about it? Remember, you're not you when you're hungry.

The sounds of the bell once again woke me up from my slumber as I raised my head and rubbed my eyes, I could see Hajime packing up his things. Stretching my arms, I looked towards the best friend duo packing their things up with Shizuku glancing here and there. My stretch and yawn must've made them notice me, nevertheless, I did have a good sleep. I didn't bring anything with me since I have a locker where I stored my books and school-related stuff there.

"Hm? Leaving already?" I asked Hajime who slung his bag and was about to leave when I asked him.

"Yes, my grandparents are left alone so I need to go back and help them with their stuff." Hajime said as he bolted out of the room while waving at me first.

I could clearly sense Kaori being upset when she saw Hajime leaving quickly. Shifting her frustration to Shizuku, she devised a plan on not only shift her frustration, it could also act as a form of revenge towards me who embarrassed her earlier.

"Vergil-san!" Kaori said while lightly skupping towards me.

"Is there something you want, Shirasaki-san?" I asked as I could see the playfulness in her eyes.

"Do you want to come with us?" Kaori asked surprising everyone especially Shizuku as she finally knew that Kaori is planning something bad to her.

"Sorry but I have things to do so I'll have to decline." I replied to her as my reply silenced her. She thought that I would come with them since Shizuku is going with them.

"If that is all, I'll be leaving. Thanks for the offer though." I said as I left the room leaving a stunned Kaori while a relieved sigh came out of Shizuku's mouth.

Leaving them to their own devices, I left the school directly. I went to an alley and checked if there's someone near me and used Yamato to return home. After returning home, checked the fridge to see if I have something to eat for dinner. Seeing nothing but cup noodles, I grabbed my wallet and went out to explore. The summon will happen tomorrow, and I want to enjoy the modern life even if its just for a little bit more. Though... I could just return with Yamato.

I went to the shopping district for groceries when I heard a familiar voice calling towards me.

"Vergil-san!"

I turned around and saw Kaori waving her hand to me while Shizuku was being pulled by Kaori.

"What are you doing here, Vergil-san?" Kaori asked me while Shizuku looked at me apologetically.

"Just buying grocery since my supplies are finished." I said to her.

"What are you going to buy, Vergil-san?" Kaori asked with curiosity.

"Something for dinner tonight, breakfast tomorrow, and lunch, I guess?" I said and Kaori stared at Shizuku with gleaming eyes before Shizuku sighed.

"Can we come?" Kaori asked as Shizuku internally sighed once more.

"Didn't you go out with Kouki and his friend?" I asked her. I declined her offer because I felt the need to eat something, not because I'm hungry or anything, just an eating habit I formed when I was being trained by Vergil.

Always eat 3 times a day, and never skip any meal... which... is something I completely broke earlier since I have a lot to do and I was in a hurry... but not anymore.

"Oh, they went home already and we were just stopping by the shopping mall to have a look around and we found you." Kaori said.

"So you don't have any money to buy something for yourself so you just want to tag along?" I grinned while Kaori got shot by an arrow to her heart but it was not Cupid's love arrow, but the arrow of agony. Agony of not having any money to spend for yourself, like buying comfort foods.

"I... bought something with my allowance... so I don't have money to spend right now." Kaori said with pain flashing in her eyes. She even saw something she likes earlier but when she realized that she doesn't have any money to spend for herself, she had to let go of it.

"I do have a little of my weekly allowance left since I bought something earlier this week." Shizuku said and looked at me.

"Just kidding. You can come with me, its not like I'm buying something x-rated." I said as Shizuku stomped at my feet for my words.

"Shameless." Shizuku snorted and it made me wonder if this woman is on her period. I was about to reply when Kaori's phone rang and excused herself, leaving me and Shizuku behind.

"Maybe your silent version of yourself is much better." Shizuku said grimly.

"Maybe, maybe not, does it even matter?" I asked while Shizuku pondered. Although she said that my silent version is better, she personally likes my current one since she could talk to me like we were once before.

"Sorry guys, but I have to go. My mother said that she needs me at home." Kaori said and Shizuku was about to follow her but Kaori pulled her and started whispering to each other.

"This is a good chance, Shizuku. Don't waste it!" Kaori said and Shizuku frowned.

"What do you mean chance? I'm going home." Shizuku said to Kaori.

"But don't you have things to ask him? Besides you're grandpa kept on reminding you to bring a boyfriend, right? Then this is your chance! You can't back out now since it would be disrespectful." Kaori said and Shizuku once again, sighed deeply. Kaori did ask if they can come and I complied, it would be disrespectful if she backed out now.

Meanwhile, my senses easily picked up their conversation.

'What kind of B-rate wingman is this? I mean wingwoman, coming out of a B-rate movie?' I thought to myself. Kaori and Shizuku came back.

"I'll be leaving first. Take care of her." Kaoei bowed. Her words contain double meaning.

"I- I'll be in your care then." Kaori then left leaving me and a nervous Shizuku.

"Gladly." I replied as we entered the grocery.

I can finally sleep.
